The strange thing for me is when I see someone with 1,500+ posts I've never heard of. It happens from time to time and I assume there are group of folks who are busy down in play by post who rarely venture to other forums.

Years of pointless discussion on the internet, from usenet to web forums has greatly dampened my enthusiasm for random posting. And when I see a topic I would be interested in contributing to (or think of one I'd consider worth posting), the amount of effort in making a worthwhile post is usually just enough to make me not bother. It's a vicious cycle

Apparently they're "moderators" and they've got well over 10k posts...but I know I've never seen them around.

If you have 500+ posts, I probably won't think of you as a lurker. But that may or may not be just me.
