D&D 4E Who's going to dump WoW for 4E?

I'm confused. Based upon several posts on these boards I thought 4e was becoming WoW. ;)

Never played WoW - time to play versus subscription cost did not equal value.

Like many others, I currently play both WoW and 3.5, and see no reason why 4E would have any impact on my desire to play WoW.

Having said that, the many similarities I'm seeing between mmorpg style game play and 4E (as its been shared to date) is just another reason why not to play 4E. Besides it will be cheaper for me to stick with WoW than play 4E.

Although, I do dislike seeing people get their hand held through end-game content next to people who've worked hard to gear up for that content, so there's an argument to say WoW is a time-black hole unless you're practically being given epics.
Strangely that's incredibly similar to Gygaxian 1e concerns about player characters acquiring magic items or treasure they didn't earn. Gary counseled against such 'Monty Haul' DMing.

I quit running a superhero game (Silver Age Sentinels) to play WoW soon after it came out. I didn't go back to tabletop rpging for over a year. And I quit a 3.5 game a while back to play Morrowind. Not that I didn't have the time to do both but when I'm into something I get obsessed to the exclusion of all else. Addictive personality I think.

Since Ive never played WOW, I cant really say. Though so far 4e wont get me to drop anything.

It doesn't? It will probably get me to drop the Realms. And maybe all other WotC products to boot.

I have just played Diablo II online, and considering how boring it becomes, I have no desire to play WOW, especially if I have to pay for it. Same reason I will not be subscribing to Insider.

But realy they are not all that similar, only really intersecting if you talk about free time and free money

This is so comical I had to quote it, just for a good laugh.

"I saw a car once in 1929. Considering how flimsy that was, why would I ever want to pay for a car?!?"

Good one.
