Who's got HD TV?

Halo 2 is suh-weet, as are several others.
Yeah, I can confirm that Halo 2 in HD on a 72" projection board is suh-weet as well. We've finally got our Halo 2 release party going this weekend; only months after its actual release. :\ It'll be fun to get a largish group on board again. Nice thing about a screen that size and in HD; even if we get four people on a single machine, you can see everything really well. ;)

Well the tax return came in and I got myself a new big screen HD tv that will be delivered this Sunday morning. I'll be watching the pro bowl in hi def and I just can't stand waiting!!!

I have Cox phone, data, and cable so I'll be getting HBO for free.

By the by, if you haven't got your HDTV and are looking, when you find the one you want be sure to tell the salesman that you have some more shopping around to do and if you can't find a better price you'll be back. Watch them start to deal. It got the price of my HDTV knocked down a few hundred. YMMV of course but I haggle like a [size=-1]Bedouin camel trader. :)

So what did you get?! Too bad you're a little late for the Superbowl.

Resident Evil 4 in 480p is AWESOME. Metroid rocks
I haven't hooked my GameCube up to it yet, but I imagine Metroid looks wonderful. Never cared much for GTA's graphics

Metroid is amazing. I liked Zelda too. RE4 huh? Cool, I'll have to check that out. I had to get the GC component cable from the Nintendo store direct - I couldn't find it in any stores. I think I did the same for the PS2. GTA isn't 480 but it does have a widescreen option. I just liked it because it was HUGE. :D

I don't have an Xbox but I probably should get one, if just for Halo in HD.

There's a number of other exclusive games that are quite fun (Knights of the Old Republic, for instance) and a number that are made tons better than they otherwise would be by the fact that you can use Xbox live with them. I've done some Mech Assault on Xbox live that's pretty fun too.

90% of Nintendo's First-party software is 480p capable. Resident Evil 4 is, to me, the best in the series. It takes away all the elements I didn't like about previous entries, and incorporates some Shenmue-like real-time action events I really enjoy. Understand, though, that RE4 is more of an action game and less of a straight puzzle game. I'm pretty sure I've killed more creatures in RE4 by Chapter 3 than all of the creatures I've killed in all the previous games combined.

But when you see a horde of angry villagers waving torches and pitchforks running straight for at rapid speed? Amazing. As is when they find out I have a grenade. ;) Graphically, it's one of the best games of the current generation.

Quick note: for the Xbox - Enter the Matrix is, to my knowledge, only one of 4 games that natively supports 1080i. A fun game, if you like that sort of thing. 1080i tends to show it's relative lack of internal detail, though....but I haven't really put it through it's paces.

Ive got Metroid Prime 2, Metal Gear Solid 3 and Baten Kaitos waiting in the wings.

Katamari Damacy looks exactly the same....but I still love that game. :)

I work for DirecTV customer service, so here is a bit of info for ya. The HD package right now only includes ESPN HD, Discovery HD Theater, Universal HD (used to be known as Bravo HD), HDNet & HDNet Movies. The package is $10.99 a month and the offer for 6-months free is no longer available! If you subscribe to HBO and Showtime, there are HD feeds for each major network. HD locals aren't available thru DirecTV yet, but 10 markets will launch by the end of the year (giant cities like LA and NYC and so on). You MIGHT be able to get national HD feeds of ABC, CBS, NBC, and FOX from NYC & LA, but we have to beg permission from your local affialates to provide with them, so sometimes you can get them, sometimes you can't! If you get the NFL Ticket in the fall, several games are broadcast in HD each Sunday. That's it for now . . . but by year's end we will have a large HD expansion . . . but the brass won't tell us what exactly that means yet as far as how many channels and which channels will be available in HD. You can buy that HD DVR bad boy in retail and thru DTV customer service (over the phone), but I am not aware of any rebates or credits offered at this point (I'll double check later). Full retail is a cool grand on that puppy!

Hope that helps

I've played KotOR for PC, good times. While I would love to get an Xbox, time is an issue. I'm already behind on game as it is! And now because of WizarDru, I have to get RE4! :)

46" Toshiba widescreen, just the right size for our living room.

Good choice, I really like the Toshibas. I have a 50".

Do you know the others? What is Halo and Halo 2?

Halo, I'm not sure about, but Halo 2 is 480p only, as are most games these days (if they're HD at all).

The other three are:

Dragon's Lair 3D
MX Unleashed

...and....

wait for it.....

Atari Anthology. Honest.

There are also several 720p for the Xbox.

You can find the Xbox, Gamecube and PS/2 lists at HDTVarcade.com.
