Who's got the right stuff for League of Extraordinary Gentlemen 1990s?

The lack of Poncherello amazes me.

But all these teams are lacking a leader (Allan Quatermain in LXG). What about Kurt Russell's character in Stargate?

Ok if you want literary types from the 80's, I suggest Remo Williams and Chiun, of the glorious house of Sinanju (the Destroyer series). However it started earlier like the 60's or 70's.
Fifties, actually. I have a Destroyer book where they face down the Red Menace of Communism. Great idea, though.

You may want to work in Remington Steele. Given his shady past, and the fact that he's played by Pierce Brosnan, you could certainly pass it off as a long-lived James Bond in hiding from his enemies/employers. That way you can have a James Bond throughout the franchise's history (and you can even give him a Timelord-like renewal ability to explain his differing appearances.)

In 1993, Bart Simpson would be about 14 years old -- just old enough to start causing real trouble.

And let's not forget Pinhead, who might be *ahem* raising hell somewhere.

I think you'd be better off building a world and selecting the team members from likely candidates, rather than trying to find exact replacements. Different eras call for different heroes.

An "Arnold-style" terminator

I keep thinking that, if you're going to have an "Ahnold" Terminator as a foe, then you also need an "Ahnold" military action hero... Just so you can have scenes in which Ahnold fights Ahnold.

:D

"I know what your thinking..."

Ya know, you could surely drop T.C. in there as well and possibly even Rick and Higgins.

Heck, Ice Cube would make a good contact for the League as well.

My team (funded by the Jonathan & Jennifer Hart Foundation):

Exo-Man: Crippled scientist who creates a suit of bulletproof composite-and-chainmail armor that allows him to walk and gives him increased strength. from the TV pilot of the same name, decades before M.A.N.T.I.S.

Powerman: A pilot who was struck by lightning, who gained electrical manipulation powers; wears a "watch" that helps him control the amount of juice he discharges. From the TV pilot of the same name.

The Executioner: Mack Bolan, former soldier/sniper/assassin-turned Mafia-hunter; expert with small arms (and virtually all other military hardware), explosives, infiltration and terror techniques. From the series of books by Don Pendelton.

Airwolf: super-helicopter, piloted by Stringfellow Hawke and Dominic Santini

Steve Austin, Jamie Summers, Sasquatch and Max, the bionic dog. 'Nuff said.

Jaws: Metal-toothed assassin turned do-gooder (Bond Villain)

Questor, super-android ("The Questor tapes")

Kwai Chang Caine III (father of Peter Caine) ("Kung Fu: The Legend Continues")

Ben Richards, The Immortal: immune to all diseases and aging, transfusions of his blood cure diseases and heal injuries. Apparently has a long-lost brother with similar blood.

Yes, I like obscure TV characters, particularly from the 70s, why do you ask?

Exo-man and Powerman were reasonably young and could still be active in the early 90s, and The Immortal and Questor could be active anytime. Caine III had his show during the 90s but still could be walking the Earth, and Steve and Jaimie were still called into harness in the early 90s.

Bolan, Airwolf and Jaws, well, I like Bolan, Airwolf and Jaws!

BJ and the Bear can transport K.I.T.T and the mobile command center. Never liked Hasselhoff so maybe Starsky & Hutch can enter the fray.

Other additions might include Japanese Heros such as Spectre Man or Ultraman.

I actually ran a game based on a remarkably similar idea at one of the DC/MD/VA gamedays - heroes of the '80's thrust together to form a pseudo LXG in the early 2000s...to solve the mystery of who killed Jessica Fletcher (the main character in Murder, She Wrote). I used....

MacGyver
Matlock
TJ Hooker
Remington Steele
BA Barrackus (Mr. T)
Magnum, PI
Michael Knight (Knight Rider)
