Why all the hate for the Enterprise theme song

I don't dislike it's because it's a pop song. I don't even dislike it because
it's a crappy pop song (although I do find it rather uninspired). I dislike it
because it doesn't put me into the mood for ENTERPRISE. I puts me in
the mood for Once & Again or American Dreams. Not for a action packed
quest of exploration, but a suburban family drama.

Beautyful visuals though.

I agree with Viking Bastard. It would be a fine theme song for a family drama, but not for a show about exploration, action and adventure. An orchestrial piece like the other Star Trek shows would make much more sense and would still work with the visuals they have.

Personally I'm sick and tired of the orchestral themes. I found that the
DS9 theme (later one, I don't really remember the older one) didn't really
fill me with awe, but it did put me in the right mode for DS9. The Voyager
theme was dreadfully dull and uninspired factory work, but it fitted the
series for the first few seasons at least (with the change in the 4th
season, it didn't fit as well). Now, I really love the TNG theme and found
it a perfect fit for the series and while the TOS theme is kinda silly (good
kinda silly) it does put me in the perfect mood for TOS (which tends to
be kinda silly).

The ENT theme, not so much.

I went to New York last year on holiday and we took a tourist ferry that went all around the island of Manhattan. When we went past the statue of liberty they put this awful soft rock ballad about how great America was, it was so cheesy that my wife and I had extreme difficulty in not busting out into fits of laughter, completely ruining any impressiveness the statue may have had and reducing the entire experience.

The Enterprise theme has very much the same effect on me. It's completely bland and aimed at the lowest possible denominator.

Was it "I'm Proud to be an American" by Lee Greenwood? Because that song makes me want to renounce my citizenship.

While I enjoyed it for the first two seasons (Hell, it was the best thing about season 2), I don't like what they did with it for season 3. I also don't think it fits the mood for season 3.

Put me in the "Pro-Enterprise Theme Song" group. Star Trek had become so reliant on that damned orchestral pomp-and-circumstance it bored me. Enterprise's "Faith of the Heart" theme was the first time I DIDN'T change the channel on the theme music intro - I'll listen to it. The words are inspiring, and fit the original concept of the show immensely.

And back off from my Lee Greenwood song. :) I grew up loving that song. Don't ever take me to a karaoke night, 'cause I'll bust off a Greenwood tune pretty fast. ;)

The TNG theme is actually just a slice from the soundtrack of the first movie, Star Trek: Commotion Sickness, uh, I mean, Star Trek: The Motion Picture....

I was watching it on (the first film) on cable a few years ago, and it really made me laugh when that music came on. I suddenly wanted to see Picard say, "Make it so!" and have Troi pop in with a useless pronouncment that she senses....something.

Well, at least one good thing came out of that movie. ;)

I was quite aware of that. It's basically a rehash/remix
of the main theme from the first movie.

It fits better TNG than it did the movie.
