Why are Dwarves so Cool -- and what are the Best Dwarven Resources?

The upcoming D&D suppliment Races of Stone will deal entirely with dwarves and gnomes. It may be worth checking out.

I also highly recommend the 2e suppliments The Complete Book of Dwarves (one of the few good Complete books) and Dwarves Deep. The latter is an FR suppliment, and some of the information is out of date compared with later suppliments, but it's still worth checking out.

Hammer and Helm by Green Ronin is a great resource for dwarves, probably the best one for 3E/3.5 D&D. The old Complete Dwarves Handbook has some great material too.

asecond for that one. WotC liked it so much they hired the guy who did it to write part of Races of stone!

Hammer and Helm is the only d20 race book I own, and probably the only one outside of WotC books that I will own. It really is that good. :)

Heroes of High Favor: Dwarves (Bad Axe Games) is great. Very neat dwarven crunch.

And dwarves are cool because heavy armor doesn't reduce their speed. While 20 ft. isn't very fast to begin with, they don't loose anything when going tank - full plate is a no-brainer for them. Now add their stability, and try to bring on the irresistable force against this dwarven immovable object :)

If it's only the portrayal of dwarves them you might want to check out Games Workshop's 6E Dwarven armybook, it establishes an unique dwarfish society... $20

Green Ronin's Hammer & Helm is mostly rules related with very liittle real background material, but good nonetheless. $19.95

Badaxe's Heroes of High Favor - Dwarves is decent enough, but it ain't Hammer & Helm. $9.95

Sword & Sorcery's Burok Torn - City Under Siege ia another view on a dwarf society including some interesting new rules. $17.95
