Why are the Book of Fiends and the CBoEM listed as special order on Amazon

If you check the link for CBoEM it says you have a 3 to 4 week waiting period, BoF has a 2 month waiting period. I am still waiting for my copy. :(

Sounds like an issue with Amazon and their supplier. I'm shipping both books same day, in most cases. You don't get free shipping, like Amazon, however. I ship FedEx Home Delivery so you don't have to wait weeks after it has shipped :)

All of the distributors that most game shops pull from (Alliance Games, ACD Distribution, etc) all have these books in stock and ready to go.

Looks like they have it on "Usually Ships in 24 hours" now. I guess they just needed to get their initial supplies in order? Dunno, but I'm still waiting for my book! I wrote them, as I had heard of people ordering AFTER me and getting it, so they gave me two day shipping. So I guess I'm appeased...

Amazon is very weird about that sometimes. I NEVER preorder items from them anymore after a couple of bad experiences similar to what you describe. I'd preorder (say 2 weeks before the release date), the release date would come and go, the book/CD would now be listed as "Ships in 24 hours," and I'd wait days with no results. Usually, I'd then go in, cancel my preorder, reorder the product, and watch them immediately ship it.

Go figure...

I've had similar problems with Amazon pre-orders. In my experience, there's no benefit to preordering, unless getting your books 2 months after everyone else is a benefit.
