Why are these minis so hard to get off of eBay?

NEVER buy single minis off Ebay. It's inefficent. IconUSA is a MUCH better site, even if you can't get any more Harbinger or very few Dragoneye.
Sez you. I sent them half a dozen e-mails asking whether they shipped to my country and what the costs of shipping were, and never got a single reply. Whereas I got several great deals on eBay, shipping price included.

Indeed.

Unsurprisingly, there are plenty of dealers on eBay as well; people selling at "Buy It Now" prices if you don't want the hassle of being outbid at the last second. People with reputations in the 1000's etc.

My last purchase was a Glabrezu, a Couatl, a Rakshasa (all rares) along with a handful of Dretches and a Dwarf for about $30 including shipping. Not bad say I. ;-)

Recall that Lareth the Beautiful is the evil bad guy at the end of Module T1 "The Village of Hommlet", the first introductory-level adventure published for 1st Ed. AD&D. In some sense, there have been people waiting almost 30 years to see this guy.

Quite true, but instead they gave us the Lareth from 3e's 'Return to' version, which portrays him as a seriously messed-up looking guy.

Not that I mind...

I think the best Greyhawk minis have yet to appear, though. Iuz, and even Iggwilv, should make an appearance, though I can't ever recall seeing stats for Iggwilv).

Obmi the Dwarf would be an excellent mini, as would some members of the Circle of Eight. Gord the Rogue would be another fun one. Robilar would kick some ass.

It's swell that you guys are in agreement and all, but note that my post does indicate that I'm unaware of the principle of supply and demand, but rather inquires as what the source of the demand for minis that, in D&D, aren't that wonderful. A Mad Slasher really doesn't do anything in D&D. No special attacks, no special qualities. Free Whirlwind Attack feat, and that's about it.

Note that there are actually two Mad Slasher minis - the regular uncommon, and the promo (repaint) available only though the RPGA D&D Rewards scheme. You may have been looking at auctions for the repaint (it is green rather than brown).

Cheers!

And I've got one in my minis box. I've bought a few off ebay and sold a few I didn't need any more of on ebay. It's been pretty lucrative so far. :)

There's also been some buzz created for various minis due to the Age of Worms adventure path in Dungeon. I know the guy that's running our game said that mini prices shot through the roof, once it was known what minis were 'needed' for AoW. I'm pretty mini-neutral to mini-averse. I showed up to an RPGA game this last weekend, and everyone pulled out their cool painted minis and D&D plas-minis. I reached in my bag and withdrew the 'brass dresser drawer knob of many characters,' and everyone oo'ed and aaa'ed. It was kinda funny, and reinforced my anti-mini stance.

I had to borrow a mini off someone for the SW RPGA game I was in... I don't have SW minis at all, just the D&D ones which wouldn't have fit in this case...

There are some common fairly cool for use in game. Mad slashers are among them. They can be used as medium spiders indeed, or weird lovecraftian aberrations, or summoned creatures... I mean, they are pretty cool, aren't they?

Same thing say about Bugbears. Or Warforged. Or Shaman Kobold. I can't get enough of these guys, personally. They are extremely useful for RPG sessions.

Now for the huge minis, indeed Bulettes are fairly common (they're rated as "Uncommon" but I got three of them on something like 6 huge packs, so I am biased).

And Lareth well... it's Lareth of the Moathouse/Temple of Elemental Evil! I mean, if I could get it for a reasonable price I would. Because I love ToEE (and want to run it again personally).
