I am currently playing a campaign in D&D 2014 and I've read up on 2024, but I am not going to change over, instead going for Blades in the Dark. I do think 2024 is an improvement, but my problem is with D&D above level 10.
2014 worked well up to level 10. Yes, the Bladesinger wizard was enormously overpowered in a game with few fights per day, but acceptably so. But past level 10, everything suddenly felt like hard work. Because of limited attunement slots, treasures were no longer inspiring. Fights take forever. Concentration makes magic less than fun. Too many options that are suboptimal.
This is strange since I have run 3.0, 3.5, and Pathfinder 1 games into high double-digit levels and didn't have the problems others have with those rules.
2024 looks better than 2014, but it fixes none of these issues. I also feel like trying something new.
