Why aren't you voting?

Can't speak for him, but I myself like the idea of at least two or three judges being new judges, with two or three previous judges to help them through the newness of it. The idea of the same people being judges consistently I'm leery of, but a small pool of rotating judges I don't mind (not that I think there needs to be a rule, that's just the way I vote every year).

This sums up my feelings on the subject nicely- except I would add that being a judge *every year* doesnt seem like a good thing for the awards.

But not trying to get the rules changed. Like Henry, I vote with my vote ;)

Like I said, there should be some programming so that every registered member gets an e-mail asking them to vote when the poll firsts goes up, then another e-mail a week into it, and another on the last day.

I think its a good idea. Add in an announcment at the top every page in that little bar, and it might help get people's attention.

This thread seems to have done some good, though. :)

I voted but it does looks like it's turning into a bit of a popularity contest, or at least the ones with the most posts are winning. I would rather have voted on the candidates' resumes without actually knowing them from the boards. I'm not saying those that are winning aren't qualified candidates but I just feel that I don't much about some of the others.

Working on it!

I think it is a good idea. (Yes, I voted.) Past participants of the Chicago EN World Gamedays do get e-mails when a planning or registration thread goes up. So, I think some e-mails to members might help -- as well as putting a link to the voting thread in each forum.

People are probably not voting as much because:
5) They don't care about the ENnies for whatever reason.

I didn't vote, nor participate in previous years voting because the ENnies are unimportant to me. It seems to me the Judges and the products turn into a popularity contest (but then, cliqueish behavior is standard on forums, including the manner of policing the forums themselves), the results are meaningless for the most part in ENWorld, and even more meaningless outside of ENWorld. Winners or nominee's presence make no difference to my buying habits.

In addition, the ENnies cause plenty of irritation to me, in the form of arguement threads, badmouthing of companies, companies whining, plus all these silly banners and announcements cluttering the pages at times.

So, I don't really see the ENnies as a "fan award", because of the limited sampling. It's more like an ENWorld Ego Stroke to pat their favorites on the back and reward themselves for their importance.

But, that's just my opinion. :)
