Why aren't you voting?

We have now exceeded the number of votes we had from last year, and there's still four and a bit days remaining.

The difference between fifth and sixth place is only 52 votes.
The difference between fourth and fifth place is only 108.

Considering that at any given time there are over a thousand users online EN World, if one in ten of them voted, it could create quite an upset.

There's been some frustrated sentiment expressed with regards to the perceived futility, but to that I say <expletive deleted>. If you are dissatisfied with the results thus far, than instead of being a stereotypical online geek sitting on his pallid arse griping, take the minute out of your life and the six clicks of the mouse and vote. Heck, even if you're totally pleased with the results, don't be shy! Add your voice to the chorus and give this year's judges a powerful mandate. Tell your friends to vote. Place a notification in your sig. Don't know how? Email me and I'll help!

If you tell me that you didn't vote, then expect me to care about anything you have to say about the ENnies in the future, you're sadly mistaken.

To everyone else who has done so already, thank you for voting.

I voted at noon the first day -- and saw that it already for me, OVER!!

Last place beckons!!

....and I really put a lot of effort into my nomination.....

I truly sympathize. If it's any consolation, it was your impressive declaration of candidacy statement that convinced me to vote for you.

Well said.

Despite my desire for change (i.e. more panel turnover each year so that other people get a shot at representing our community), I have no gripe with the incumbents or their performance to date. Quite the contrary, I consider a couple of them friends and respect them a great deal. I'd just love to see how the process was affected by broader change...

Thanks for all your work Dextra.

I'm not voting for the judges this year for the same reasons I didn't vote in the last ENnies' poll: the awards aren't relevant to me anymore. I admit, I'm a pretty niche gamer. I play & develop d20 Modern alost exclusively, and my favoured publishers run the gamut of minor celebrity (RPGObjects) to small press companies. Last year, these areas of interest just weren't represented at the ENnies. The year before, that representation was minor. It almost seems that Monte Cook's blasting rant against the 3rd party small press "takeover" of the ENnies has reduced the number of small press publishers of whom I enjoy from entering the ENnies. I'm not implying there is a connection here, only noting the coincidence.

I'll likely vote for next year's judges, mainly because I'll have a vested interest in the ENnies that year (ie, I will be submitting something for judgement). For now, though, there's just no reason for me to; I have my doubts that the ENnies will have more appeal for me this year than last year or the year before.

Sorry if this offends. The question was "why haven't you voted?" and I answered it honestly.

Well, the representation depends on both what is submitted AND what the judges select. So...selecting judges who you feel would have similar tastes would actually add to the possibility that things your interested in would be included in the Ennies.

So, you feel that d20 Modern books were not nominated much in years past and that is why you have no interest in the ENNies? I'm just making sure I have this correct. Its not offensive at all, just a viewpoint I haven't run across so I want to make sure I understand.

I'm glad for your honest input, thank you.

It's unfortunate that you don't see how many small press publishers did and do sumbit to the ENnies. Perhaps we'll have to put up a list of every company who submitted product, even if it's just to say "thank you for participating". Some of them even got nominated, though granted not any Modern products (I don't remember how many, if any, were submitted this year).

The apathetic attitude that you (and a few others- I'm not really trying to target you in particular) expressed that really gets my goat though. The awards aren't relevant to me, so why should I try and change them? Well, if they're not relevant to you, why NOT try and change them? Look through the list of candidates and find someone who has a soft spot for indie publishers? Or who truly knows and appreciates Modern? Ask the candidates some questions?

On another note, as a game developer, I've found the ENnies to be an invaluable tool for helping make some purchasing decisions. Thanks to the ENnies, for example, I know that Ed Bourelle is the guy to get when it comes to cartography. I've also enjoyed watching the career of one particular artist I first hired for a Modern book as his work has been nominated for (and won, IIRC) ENnies.

Please. Participate. Six clicks, one minute.

This would be very much appreciated. As I'm sure you're well aware, one can't make a vote for change unless one has adequate information.

As noted by Conaill above, a list of which judge voted for what product to be nominated from the many submissions in the Ennies would also be very appreciated - again, to give the voter adequate and proper information, and possibly reduce any apathy for future Ennie judge voting.

See above. Might you consider forcing anyone running for an Ennie judge to give better and more detailed information in their "campaign speech" (as opposed to relying on the off chance that one might "know" that poster and his/her likes and dislikes from hanging around the boards for a good long while)?

People don't take the effort to vote when there is little (read: no) information. Your "gotten goat" seems a little misplaced.

With out the reasons why it would be pretty meaningless. I voted for Blue Rose in many categories. But what does that really mean to anyone?
It'd have enough meaning for me. I could possibly even establish a pattern of what you like and dislike.
