I have seen many complaints about 3.5 and some complaints not about 3.5 itself but the fact that it seems a bit premature or that its only a money scheme.

First: Answer if you liked 3.5 or not.

Second: Even if you do like 3.5 point out the things you dont like in 3.5 or what aspect you dont like about 3.5

Feel free to comment below on what irks you in 3.5 or why you think people are complaining about it.

1.0 all the way, baby.

Me and my paladin subclass of cavalier!

You can't even finish saying "munchkin" before I cut you down. Twice.

wow... way more like 3.5 than dislike it !

Obviously, this poll isn't yet large enough to qualify as comprehensive, but...

I think you're going to find that this sort of thing--discovering that far more people like something that it first seemed--is quite common in this industry/market.

The truth is, for good or ill, people on average tend to speak up more when they're unhappy with something. Thus, a majority of those who like something (or at least don't dislike it) tend to remain quiet, making their opinions known only if directly asked.

So, in any given community where the overtly stated opinions seem to suggest an even split in the opinions on a given subject, the truth will often (though certainly not always) lie far more toward the positive than the negative.

Oh, and for the record, I voted that I like 3.5. There are a few changes I dislike, but they are vastly outnumbered by those I'm happy with.

One interesting thing I noticed in my 3.5E facing poll was that despite the opposition from Monte Cook, only a small minority of people preferred the 3E version. Of course, 115 votes (last time I checked) isn't really enough of a sample to be confident of anything, but the 11.3% in support of 3E compared to other systems was extremely surprising.

WotC got a lot of things right in 3.5E. (They did so for 3E as well).

I was extremely surprised - in a totally good way - the other day when I saw the expansion of the dungeon feature descriptions in the 3.5E DMG - it was much, much better than the 3E version, and something I appreciate greatly.

More than enough to make up for any quibbles I have for the changes to the sleep and spider climb spells.

Cheers!

I'll be honest and say that in the run up to the release of 3.5 I was not impressed with what I saw. I still believe that its far too soon to release a "revision." It has only been 3 years and lets admit it, 3.5 may as well be a new edition of the game.

Once the books came out, I went out and bought them. I figured that since future material will all be 3.5 then I really need to buy them in order to play the game with new material. I'm not bitter about it, but I do think that WotC did it simply for the money. It is how a business works, but I come back to the fact that it was too soon to release it.

In the end, I was quite pleased with the 3.5 revision even with the errors in it. Even after reading it and finding it good, my earlier misgivings are still there, but providing that WotC don't try another "revision" or new edition within the next 7 or 8 years I'll be happy.

I like 3.5. The only gripe I have (which isn't listed in the poll) is the editing. Let's hope for an early errata release.

For me, there can be only 1 (E).

But that doesn't mean I think it should have to apply to everyone.

I feel for all those left behind, however, whatever their game version preference.

Or, begin as a fighter and double-specialize in two weapons, longsword and shortsword. Then switch over to thief and specialize as a thief-acrobat. Now you're ready for the 1e bard! (which, using the expanded druid in UA, continues to get druid abilities all the way to L23) :D

Aeo (the old-timer who was once a diehard 1e fanantic, until 3e came along)
