3.0 works fine as it is for the most part. 3.5e adds nothing compelling enough for me to feel the need to spend money on those books that I could use on things like Gary Gygax's World Builder, or the Midnight Setting book, or buy a new TV.

Pokepaladins set a new high on the Flexor suck-scale.

Curious that so many like 3.5 and so many even then think it was made more for the money. I certainly dont think 3.0 was broken enough to warrant three new core 3.5 books.

Well we are switching anyway to 3.5 and those buff spells will be sorely missed for sure. Mages will feel the haste going too.

What I find most amusing about this post is how, a year or so ago, Flexor said similar things about 3E ;)

When 4E comes out he'll have grudgingly accepted v.3.5, which'll give him an excuse to complain about 4.0 :p

I should have included a "I hate changes" option... I figured the last one would kind of do it. :)

Many of the complaining I see seems to be knee jerk reactions to 3.5. One reason I set up this poll. To really get a feeling to why people dont like 3.5.

Hey! I haven't whinned about 3e for a long time. I've been running it, the players like it, and it's been fun lately. I just don't see what 3.5 has that's so great to make me want to buy 90 bucks in new books. Not to bash 3.5, if people like it great, but it's basically the same game with a few tweaks and a couple major changes. No need to buy new books for that.

spell changes

Well my group hated the changes with those too. But in my opinion ( which I know everybody feels is extremly important :D )The changes to these spells where needed. My group really abused Bull's strength and the buff spells. It was part of the morning routine, PCs get up, eat breakfast, get dressed, cleric casts bull strength on most of the party, go out adventuring. I remember my cleric finding gaunlets of orge power, I sold them as soon as I could cause they were useless, I would just cast Bull's strength and get a better bonus ( if I rolled a one it was the same bonus as the gaunlets). And haste I hated the sorceror (or somekind of spellcaster) that was hasted and would fireball us twice a round.

BTW I really like 3.5, yeah I will be pissy if 4th ed. comes out soon.

I like most of the changes but my biggest dislike is having to go over every rule, and every spell, again. I voted for not buying the new books, and I have not, I'm going by the srd so far.

I know I am only reiterating what others have said before, but...

Yes, some of the changes (particularly the class revisions) in 3.5 are good

Yes, some points were cleared up

Some of the other changes (particularly several of the spells and the greater "boardgame" feel) went overboard

But to really bring it back home:

Was This Revision Worth Spending $90 All Over Again?

Equally, what of all those piles of supplements that are no longer in compliance?

Okay, I'd say 65+% of the changes were good.

They were NOT $90 worth of good no matter how you slice it.

What ?!

No Karma Beads to make Bulls Strength last an extra 4 hours !! :)

Yep I certainly felt a little silly in not getting Buff spells and keeping my +2 Con item.
