Why I WON'T boycott WotC

I have had no intention to boycott WotC. I'm willing to give both their new online initiative, and Paizo's increasingly-cool-looking Pathfinder, a chance.
I feel exactly the same. I've been a subscriber to Dungeon and I'm very excited about the new Pathfinder line and also want to see what WotC's Digital Initiative is all about. It has nothing to do with the books they publish, and I'm still buying them. (Also, Expedition to Castle Greyhawk was written by some Paizo folk, Erik and Jason nonetheless, and boycotting that book could mean they will NOT get a new chance to keep writing for WotC... Would you all let Erik without this extra income? :p )

Cheers!

I won't boycott WotC.

I will buy Dungeon Tiles 4+, and a box of minis in each new series.

I doubt I'll buy anything else, however. Apparently I'm not part of their core demographic any more.

No I am not going to boycot WotC, but let's say my NPC attitude has gone from "Helpful" to "Unfriendly" and it is going to take a DC 40 Digital Initiative to get it back.

I was Undecided on next months Complete Champion and Drow books and the completist in me said "You will buy them eventually".

Well maybe that is true, but it won't be next month.

:p Well said.

The demise of the magazines will have no effect on my purchase of WotC material, but I still can't say I'm pleased about it. I never subscribed to either magazine, but I did purchase an average of three issues a year. I live in a fairly rural area where it's an hour drive to the nearest bookstore (and we're talking a tiny mall-bound Border's Express here). They carry both Dragon and Dungeon magazines, but none of the other gaming magazines mentioned in this thread. So, once they're gone...I'm pretty much out of the loop in terms of gaming magazines.

Doesn't make much of a difference to people living in larger cities or places that can actually support a local gaming store or to those with a large (larger than mine, anyway) expendable income. However, for those of us that like to browse Dungeon and Dragon magazines every month and occaisionally find enough useful material to warrant a purchase...it's one less road to travel.

"Boycott" is not the term I would use, but I have to admit that the last 2 WotC books I bought were only after reading about them in Dragon or Dungeon. So while I may not actively boycott WotC products, I may simply not notice what's out there to buy...

I'm going to underscore this: getting curious about the monsters used in Dungeon adventures, for example, is the sole reason I have all the WOTC monster books, Eberron, and WOTC psionics material.
Lending those magazines to the people I game with has sold probably 6-10 different copies of the complete books -- people saw things they wanted to follow up on.
Most of those people don't read this or any other D&D website.

Unless I subscribe to the DI, I won't get this material. I certainly wouldn't go out and buy a book on a lark or even reviews...these are luxury items for me, and very expensive in terms of time and money. WOTC has lost their most effective channel to reach me, and I don't think I'm alone in this.

I'll definitely be boycotting all WotC products for the near future and provide my gaming $ to other companies as a way to express my displeasure and anger over the mis-management of this entire fiasco. Its really the only action that WotC will listen to and understand.

I haven't decided, but a short boycott -- no buying in April-June, then buy the stuff you would have bought in July -- that sounds sensible. That way, they'd take a hit in their quarterly profits, without us not getting access to our precious gaming books. In the meantime, the FLGS and d20 communities shouldn't suffer, so buy other publishers.

Today I bought two DCC's and a copy of Dungeon. I loving picked up two WOTC books and read a bit, but I put them back down as I decided I couldn't give them my money again, not yet.

Cute. I'm not so nice. I went from Friendly to Hostile. In the sense that today I decided to do harm to myself and people I like (not picking up Wolfgang Baur's Expedition to the Demonweb Pits from my FLGS) just to do WOTC a little harm.
