Why the need for confession?

How would you define edition warring if it is not giving a laundry list of why you dislike "edition x" and how you refuse to play it?


Goodness, sir, that's not edition warring. That's having a personal opinion.

It is only warring if you start getting on other people's case about it. It is one thing to state your own opinion. It is quite another to hack on someone else for their preference. Being too aggressive about how you are right, and they are wrongity-wrong-wrong, with wrong sauce, and probably stupid and mean to their players for using another ruleset - that's edition warring.

(No, folks, this is not a moderator warning - this is just a bit of a note on how moderators view the issue, which seems relevant here.)
