Why the resistance to the new(er) edition?

I have no complaints against the rules of 3.5 just its sloppy execution. If any of us bought a car that had body damage, none of us would pay full price for it. PHB and DMG have some body damage, they run great dont get me wrong. You just shouldnt make people pay for stuff thats damaged.

Bought software or cable/satellite TV recently?

I am very wary about shelling out $90 on Andy Collin's house rules.

The good/bad ratio just isn't enough to get me excited about it. I'll get it...eventually....and many of the changes are for the plus. But combine changes that didn't need to be made with changes that made things worse with changes that just didn't make much sense, and there's a lot of chaff to seperate the wheat from.

Add to this the 'obviously about money' ploy and the 'patchwork fixes' and the 'original designers don't like it much,' and you've got yourself a winning combination of poop onna stick. :)

Why? Because a new edition wasn't necessary. If it ain't broke don't fix it! I don't want to shell out another $90 for the core rules! Plus, the new edition invalidates all my d20 books. Talk about backwards compatibility all you like, but the fact remains that it's going to take some work to convert all the books that I have to 3.5e. Moreover, all the changes that I've seen have been bad: poke-paladins, nerfed spells, square facings- the list goes on and on!

Mmmm Mmmm Tasty.

Hey CT, what can you do with poop on a stick. It shouldn't be too hard, the word poop is funny all by itself.

How did he manage to survive the falling axe at WoTC anyway ? Never understood that with the other talent they let go...

I believe that the majority of Dungeons and Dragons players are satisfied with 3.5. People tend to complain more than anything complement.

Not to say that 3.5 is perfect. I like it better than 3.0. It is written better. 3.5 dosnt have any more typo's than 3.0. The editing isn't even the designers fault, but the editors.

I traded in my 3.0 and used the cash to help pay for Arcana Unearthed(which is also very good).

Companies are in business to make money. I don't have a problem with that. Wotc does provide quite a bit of free material in the form of web extras and articles on there site.

Even if Hasbro demanded a new edtion, which is there right after all, as the owners of the company and all, WotC did a good job of it.

They provided a good conversion document, which they didn't need to do.

As far as the orginal designers not liking 3.5....which one is that?Gary or Dave? The 3rd edtion designers arent the orginal designers. 3.0 is itself a revision.

If your talking About Monte, he seems to see more good in the revision than bad. He may not like the idea that they did a revision, but overall he seems to be satisfied with it. I certainly am not trying to speak for Monte Cook. I formed this opinion from reading his review.

Back to the money grubbing corporations for a minute. They run the country. If your expecting a corportaion to do anything but try and make as much profit as they can, your expecting to much. I am just happy that they are keeping Dungeons and Dragons alive. It dosnt make nearly as much money as Magic does. I am surpirsed that they dont try to just strip Wotc down to a card company.

heheh....makes me appreciate White Wolf's greed a little more. At least whenever they released yet another overpriced and unnecessary revised edition, the rules changes weren't so great as to make all of their old books obsolete. :D
