WotC Why WotC SHOULD Make A New Setting

Why not put them on different continents on the same world? That way groups could move between the two tones (with difficulty) if they wanted something different.
I don't really feel that 'dying of the light' settings work very well if you can just travel one continent over to get to a hopeful optimistic setting with a different tone.

End of the world settings are my favourites, but they don't work nearly as well when happyland is a few miles down the road.

If we consult Wikipedia or TV-Tropes, urban fantasy refers to contemporary urban environments.

There was in the principle a UA article about "modern world". It seems the idea was cancelled or rejected.

WotC has got its own Urban-Fantasy IPs, "Urban Arcana" and "Dark*Matter" (and Ravenloft spin-off "the Mask of the red Death"). But if WotC published an Urban Fantasy setting too many players would use the crunch to play their favorite franchises, for example Tokio Ghoul, Dandadan, Dresden Files, Buffy vampire-slayer...

And there is some possibility about after the event "Reality Francture" something linked to Duskmourn happened, creating something like a spin-off.

Teorically a new setting should be for some still-unexplored subgenre. Romantasy could be interesting but usually the worldbuilding is too linked to the main plot and when this story ends the world become too "boring" for possible spin-off with new groups of characters.

The settings shouldn't be too linked to rules because then when there is a new edition they aren't easy to be updated. Maybe the intention is the future new setting being designed by a videogame studio and after to be adapted into TTRPG.

Until now WotC would rather selling 3PP settings in D&DBeyond instead starting from zero.

And if wotc decided to change it, there would be an internet full of grognards that would complain because they were changing canon again. Damned if you do, damned if you don't. ¯\(ツ)

Some, sure. I would hope most would see it as the improvement that it would be. ;)

You reach a point where even holding the property is a hot potato. Do anything new with it and people will complain about the changes. Do nothing with it and people will complain the property is dead. Keep within the established boundaries and people will complain about no new ideas and recycling plots of nostalgia points. At a certain point, you gotta realize you are going to have to break some eggs to make your ommlette and determine some group of fans are going to get the short straw.

That is the reason because I suggest a new setting about chronomancers and alternate timelines. If there are oficcially several continuities then teorically the conflicts about canon should end.
