Why would/did you become a community supporter?

No, no you don't - it is taken care off. ;) As is my habit, I purchase CS accounts 1 every quarter (sometimes more) and have requested it in your name!

i do this during the holiday drive. give accounts to friends as gifts.

What's with all the, I don't have enough disposable income!!!!???? Does a CS account cost that much? No it doesn't. Let's be honest folks, and it's not a problem, you've just got better things to spend your money on or are just not interested.

$35 is a lot of money.

edit: correction it is now $45.

I let mine expire last year, I had just forgotten to take care of it, and before I could re-up I got an email saying diaglo had gifted me. Thanks again!

And on a post-count or supporter requirement for judgeship, I think the voting process takes care of this. If your post count it too low then chances are you just are not well known enough to get the votes needed. And nominees could certainly mention in their background information how long they have been a supporter.

I don't think that's fair. If that were the criteria, only people who have paid money could be a judge. There are a lot of people with valid opinons who just can't afford to buy a CS sponsorship. Also, a lot of posts does not make one an expert on RPGs and, therefor, should have no bearing on the merits of being an Ennies judge.

What it should be based on is how open minded, literate, articulate, fair, and passionate a person is.

I'm with Reveal here. ENWorld and the Ennies shouldn't be elitist enterprises. I know Xath spent a lot of time helping out with the Ennies and manning the booth at GenCon this year. I think that kind of commitment to the community is worth more than doling out for a community supporter account.

$35 or $45 is not a lot of money for a years subscription; it's not a lot of money full stop.

P.S. Before someone beats me to it, I did get my account for nowt however I would have purchased one anyway as it's a damn good site and Morrus is a good friend.
