$35 or $45 is not a lot of money for a years subscription; it's not a lot of money full stop.

P.S. Before someone beats me to it, I did get my account for nowt however I would have purchased one anyway as it's a damn good site and Morrus is a good friend.

it is if you are not making money. it is a lot of money. college students take out loans to pay for their schooling. if they had money they wouldn't need a loan.

priorities. those who can afford to support and feel they should do. those who don't shouldn't feel badly cuz they don't. Period. Full stop.

heck it is $1000000 for a 1year subscription for game publisher.

I was a CS for two years. I ran a contest to help support the major fund raising effort. I was about to resubscribe even though I was spending considerably less time here. Morrus hit us with his famous rant, which was totally within his rights and very well explained. It knocked me off balance though, and I decided against re-subscribing.

I still like this place, but it has changed a lot in the last couple of years. I would have been lost without it a couple of years ago - now, not so much.

Sorry for my negativity - please understand I still like this place :D

What's with all the, I don't have enough disposable income!!!!???? Does a CS account cost that much? No it doesn't. Let's be honest folks, and it's not a problem, you've just got better things to spend your money on or are just not interested.

Yeah, like food and clothes for the kids. You should back off, because you don't know the people on here personally, and you're not coming off very well.

I figure I spend enough time at work procrastinating on these boards that they deserve a little bit of the money I earned while I wasn't working.

Oh, and the slow server was so bad that it was making me actually contemplate working instead - couldn't have that.

Sorry if I offended you I wasn't trying to make anyone feel bad, I was just saying it's not that much money; it's very reasonable in fact, IMHO.

I got mine for reasons like yours - to support the community. I get so much out of the place that I want to put a bit back into it when I can.

The search function is occasionally useful, but when I'm short of cash I don't miss it too much.

I am a College student. I don't have a job that pays anything more than what I need for food and to live.

I have a very, very small disposable income, and its usually closer to $20 or $25 if I've got any at all. With gas prices being so high, there's even less money for someone like me.

Get a paper round! ;)

1 hour/week, double your 'disposable income'.....seriously! :)

I bought my account because I realized that with the amount of time I spent here, and the amount of useful advice and ideas I'd received, that it was more useful to me than many of the d20 books I've purchased over the years. If I'm willing to pay money for books, why not an account?

Having access to search is nice, but not the reason I got the account.
