Wierdest place you've ever gamed

Besides almost every room in the church I had to attend while growing up, the strangest was a converted hanger in Saudi Arabia that was housing about 1000 soldiers. A friend and I played with torn up pieces of paper and cups, for dice, and we did our best to remember all the rules. We didn't have any books or dice.

That kicks ass. My 'wierdest' is nowhere near that wierd!

But it'd have to be in one of the forts that is not too far from here. It wasn't very warm, but the atmosphere was not bad at all, and visitors were at a convenient low.

But darn, most of my RPG experiences have been in urban and suburban houses/flats, with creature comforts galore. Harumph.

edit --- though the person who posted 'the woods' reminded me just now. It was a long time ago, and I was just getting into RPing. I was living in the country, and must've been 10, going on 11. The woodlands out back were my (and my then best friend's) favourite place to hang out. They went for miles and miles and...well a very long way, in a nearly 180 degree arc. I tried DMing in the midst of them, which was bad in terms of each party's understanding of the rules, but great in terms of 'cool! RPGs could be the next great thing!' Mph, why does that make me feel so old now, I wonder. And it's not even wierd really, just 'not yer loungeroom'.

I dragged the PHB and DMG along with me cross country sking once and ended up playing in the quinzi we slept in... so in other words, a big block of ice. I usually bring the basic books with a small selection of monsters with me whenever I go camping. Sorta makes you rethink what happens when you cross a days worth of rations off your list and the DM says "it's pouring rain when you wake up, you feel miserable."

Or rolling Spot and Listen checks when you are taking the watch somewhere in the wilderness... (when I was younger, we used to go camping out near the woods, with campfire stories about all manner of creatures and criminals abounding.)

Weirdest place I've ever gamed

The weirdest place I've ever gamed was on top of a tank a few miles south of the Korean demilitarized zone.

Operations center - The National Security Agency!
We had an equipment outage and 8 hours of time to pass on a mid-shift on a Saturday night. 2EAD&D.

Before that, a secure school house on Corry Station in Pensacola, FL during a mandatory safety down day the Navy imposed (I was in the Army) - the irony is we were playing Top Secret.

Last night I gamed at a baseball game.

Quite sad, actually. But it was fun to imagine the crowd actually was cheering for our rolls.

On the roof of an apartment where the current DM lived. We couldn't game IN the apartment itself because he was in the process of moving out and everything was dusty and there were boxes everywhere. It was the first and only time I've become sunburned while playing D&D.

People like you give us geeks a bad name: "Sex? I don't want to know about sex, let's play Dungeons and Dragons!" :p
Yeah, some of these posts ending up sounding a bit too much like some discarded plot from the now-defuct show "Freaks & Geeks," especially that last episode when Daniel plays D&D....lol

That might spoil the image of gamer geeks as pasty skinned wimps living in their parents' basements. Then again, it might not....
