Wild West d20?

I just ran across a old Boot Hill character and I begin to wonder. Is there any Wild West d20 rules out there? I mean a true Wild West game with fast draw rules and such. Not a magic/western game like Deadlands.

Deadlands d20 will work fine. When they converted it to d20, they messed up the whole magic system anyway. Once the cards were gone out of the game, the game lost its flare, in my opinion.

I agree. The cards in the old Deadlands system was a wonderful idea and we all enjoyed the heck out of it when we played.

I've heard this exact stement about how taking the cards out of the magic system ruined it from dozens of people, but as someone who never played their non d20 version I don't really get the significance of the statment.

Can someone let me know how the cards factored intot eh original Deadlands magic system and why it was so good please?

Perhaps their is a way to reintegrate the original cards into a D20 scope?

Ugh. The old Deadlands magic system was basically the player making a die roll, then drawing 5 cards and making a poker hand.

Flavorful, maybe, but annoying in practice. You always had to look things up in the book to see if the poker hand was good enough to cast it.

I never played a magic using character in Deadlands so I don't know about that but I loved getting cards for inituative. It was just the flavor of the game using poker cards and chips in the game that really did it for me.
