Wilderness encounter for 15th-level PCs

How about a Hag Covey and their minions?
Say, two Annis Hags, Fighter 6; one Green Hag, Cleric 4; 8 Ogres; and 4 Hill Giants - Give the covey a Hag Eye and make good use of the covey's extra spell-like abilities.
Your party comes up just shy of 17th level, since you have more than 4 PC's.
This encounter should be around an 18, so it should be very difficult for them. However, good tactics will pay off. If they manage to pick off the giants and ogres away from the covey, the hags will be much easier to defeat

A dozen giant Bees attack during a forest fire.

(backstory: someone or something started a huge fire to destroy their hive, so the bees are maddened by the destruction and attack the party a couple of turns before the forest fire arrives.)

Your party doesn't windwalk? Weird.

Yeah, they do, but I'm looking for an encounter to occur at their destination in the wilderness. The idea is that they need to track down the 16th level monk; when they do so, he is already in over his head in an encounter.

Cheers

Richard

Since they're all high level, you'd need acts of nature to co-inside with some beasties.

In the plains during a horrible thunderstorm (as plains tend to have) With many many Tornados.

-The problem: Inexperienced Wizard playing with gate opens up portal to Elemental plain of air and too many air beasties are stirring up the local weather patterns.

That type of encounter can go many ways since it's open to felxability and even be considered more of a nights worth of adventuring rather than a basic encounter.

Have the giant bees attack the lone monk. I expect it'll take him a round or 2 at most to deal with them. Once the party arrives, they can detect the forest fire. Once they start dealing with it, add a few fire elementals of various sizes that came through the temporary vortex inside the forest fire.

If you have MMIII, use the battlebriar. Horrible planty death. Pair it with an evil druid who plans to use it to destroy a nearby town.

Or use the brood keeper. Maybe the encounter starts with a fleeing tribe of giants or a mid-level dragon. And then the insects come...

Demiurge out.
