D&D 4E Will the Tarrasque be in 4E MM?

Ever since I saw Cloverfield I've been itching to run a game where the PCs start at 1st level and are trapped in a city being attacked by a Tarrasque :)

I really hope that space isn't wasted on the Tarrasque. I've never used, never seen it used and don't plan to ever use it. Makes much more sense to have the MM filled with non-unique monsters (and perhaps the odd unique monster with a bit of history to them like Orcus).

The only time I've ever read of it being used in a game it was part of a campaign-ending deus ex machina.

I don't know when the T originally appeared, but I know it wasn't in my 1e MM; when it *did* appear it just seemed like someone had decided to arbitrarily create a 'superbad' monster.

Pah I say. Pah!

(OK, I might be alone in this - perhaps a simple poll for have/have not used the T is in order?)

I understand the concept behind the tarrasque; a brute with no magic, no spell casting just staright on melee. To nullifie the flying issue, just give it an antimagic zone or something less cheezy.

I agree its hardly ever used, but see the thing is that the tarrasque serves as an example and a benchmark on combat crutes, which gm's can use to make their own. Or gm's can simply modfiy it, and rename it and bang! They have a unique epic monster for their own setting.

RigaMortus- while I didn't want to see like what looked like a crappy movie anyway, some may not appreciate such a spoilerish statement.

Sitara- that would have to be a huge antimagic field. Anything less than a mile and there is still stuff you can do to it.

Umm, I thought RigaMortus's statement is just about as far from a spoiler as you can get. We knew it was a monster movie months ago. We knew the location, and a lot of the basic plot. He didn't give anything away that wasn't obvious from a trailer, had you seen one. I saw one a while back and immediately guessed that's what Cloverfield was, even before we knew the name of the flick.

Hmm..the idea off 1st level pc's in a city being attacked by a tarrasque is AWESOME Rigamortus.

To make it even more so though I would do it when pc's are, say, level 18 or so. That way they are still outclasses, but do have the ghost of a chance of winning..thus there is the constant tempation of fight and flight. Could call for some interesting guerilla tactics withint a burning city.
