Given the announced leads, Paris Hilton and Justin Whalin (Ridley from the first travesty), and the announced director, Gerry Lively (his IMDB entry says it all), I'd say it's very likely this film will stink. While discussing this with friends tonight, it occurred to us that on some level, that might be intentional -- because all three of us plan to see it in the theater.

Do we expect it to be good? God, no. But we do expect it to be fun to laugh at, and that just might be worth $10.

What about you?

Seeing as how the last movie was a stinking pile of offal, I sincerely doubt I will even remotely consider watching the sequel.

Paris Hilton in a lead role? Good lord. You'd think with all the great material in the D&D library that they'd be able to make a good movie and take it seriously. LotR raised the bar for fantasy films, so anything less will have it's work cut out for it to succeed.

If it looks okay in the previews, and if it gets half way decent reviews... Yes I will see it. But otherwise I will wait for video...maybe.

i'm not downloading the screen saver this time.

nor am i camping out days ahead of time at the movie theater with my wife like last time.

but, yes, i'll probably see it.

I sincerely doubt I will bother to see it in a theatre; I might rent it later, if I hear it is silly/bad enough. For the most part, however, I merely expect it to be mediocre-bad, as opposed to truly swampworthy.

Now if only Ed Wood could be resurrected to film it, we might actually have a film! ;)

almost certainly not.

I can't believe they rea screwing it up that bad already. I really wanted to like the first one. I even actively looked for things to like in it, and still it sucked.

i'm not even going to try with the second one.

Why can't they make one that is even half way decent. You would think, with WotC's focus on "branding," that they would want any movie called 'Dungeons and Dragons" to be as good as possible.

To paraphrase (contact), the only way I'll see this is if they're handing out hamburgers and handjobs in the theater lobby.

No, I take that back. Does Paris Hilton get killed by mindflayers in the first five minutes? If so, it might be worth attending.
