Witch class from Dragon #114?

Does anyone know where I may find a conversion(s) of the Witch class from Dragon Magazine #114? It should be 3.0 ideally, but we can adapt 3.5 rules.

I understand that there may be a witch or witch-like class in 3E already, but we’re looking for this version specifically.

Well there are three decent Witch classes that I know of.

The 3.0 DMG it's used as an example of how to create your own class.

The Quintessential Witch... the one I use 3.0 a kind of blending between the traditional witch and a Druid.

The Green Ronin masterclass Witch. Unfortunatly I don't have this one so can't comment on it... if it's anything like their other class books I wouldn't be suprised if it was spectactular.

Haven't seen anything like that Witch from the Dragon (which, of course, is a conversion from an issue during the Dragon's first two years of publication itself). It's easily the most flavorful witch around, though.

Boz,

To make sure I have the right image in mind, is this the same copy of Dragon magazine which came out in the 80's with the cool cover (had a witch kneeling and offering something up to the sky)?

If it is, I fondly recall that class being great! I would love to see a conversion of that class, as well.

that is the very one keeper - i was looking at it last night. :) my DM really really wants to have this class in his new game. he has a semi-conversion worked out in his head, but it couldn't hurt to see what other input there is on working things out.

Maybe you would have better luck in the conversion forum? Or even find someone willing to do the conversion for you. Either way, good luck (I'm interested in seeing a conversion as well).

I know of the witch you speak of, but no longer have access to the magazine to attempt a direct conversion. Even if I still am in possession of that particular issue, it is in a storage box with countless other Dragon's and inaccessable.

My personal witch class has used some of the elements from that witch but also expanded to include some of the works from other sources as well as making it a Template class that allows the witch player to choose the type of witch they are. For example some witches may choose to follow candle magic, some use athems for blood magic and cauldrons for potions, while others may not use any of these or only one.

The current problem I have with all exisiting witch classes is that they keyhole the archetype into what the particular author sees a witch to be. As a student of religion and magic, I have spent quite a bit of time studying various forms of paganism and know many pagans. Very few people that I know, and that call themselves a "witch" practice the same exact same version of the "art", unless of course they are Wiccans which isn't truly a pagan witchcraft anymore. They are technically following a specific form of witchcraft, but they have evolved into just as much a formalized and organized religion as any Judao-Christian religion. That fact alone is really an antithesis of witchcraft which is supposed to be individualized and personal.
