D&D 5E With the release of each new setting book, the SCAG looks worse and worse...

The worst thing WoTC could do is print a 50 dollar book that contains things we already have.

Want to know what happened places after the Sundering(or whatever cataclysm)?
The answer is: Whatever you think.

Someone keeps saying the lore hasn’t changed. Oh yeah? Is King Azoun IV still king of Cormyr? Or is it still the regent? Or did the kid grow up and take over? Is Dove Falconhand still kicking it in the dales?

lore includes who is running the show. Not just gods and names of places. that’s part of what defined the Realms for decades and what a lot of fans have been wondering. None of the Sundering material really addressed the changes that occurred and for many long time FR DMs it is a damper on their campaigns because many stick to a canon and part of the rejection of 4e FR was that whole sections of the world were wiped out. So.... it’s a moot argument to say the lore is the same. It’s not.

Didn't they do that with the two Eberron books though?

that’s what I keep pointing out. They do it and will continue to do it. Arguments that WOTC won’t do it for FR are shallow as evidence indicates they are doing it for Eberron and rumblings of Dark Sun etc. so it’s just a stupid argument when the real answer is... based on 4e sales of FR setting books vs Dark Sun & Eberron, the bean counters may have decided it was better to roll FR into the core setting and then spin those other settings off in their own books.

I personally find the SCAG enough for me but I’d love to see an updated full campaign setting come out.

and people giving Gyor crap in a thread on the underwhelming SCAG about wanting an FRCG... this is the thread where he SHOULD be saying it because that’s what the thread is about!!!!

That is not how shared world settings work, that is just homebrew.

Exactly, I mean there have been wars, two partially merged worlds splitting apart, nations have been destroying and their survivors sent into hidden extraplanar strongholds (High Imaskar and Shadovar Netheril), old nations completely reborn and rebuilding, but changed from the old as a new generation rebuilds what was lost (Mulhorand and Unther), and sooo many new possiblities thanks to the Sundering and other events.

One thing that would be cool is introducing Leonin for the setting, have them come from the mysterious land of Katashaka, which is supposed to be African themed but never full detailed in FR, so it could have Leonin and even Loxo. Have them as Refugees who came to Faerun on the backs of huge Dragon Turtles or that Turtle Island creature from MTOFs. The Chultans btw have either origins from Katashaka btw.
