When I create new PCs or just play around with character concepts, I find myself gravitating to a particular race more often than others. To be honest, I think it's an identification thing - that particular group of humanoids tweaks something in me.

I was just wondering if you do the same.

My wife is all about the half-elf as a "race." She's of mixed heritage herself (Japanese and Caucasian-American parents). And sometimes halflings because they're just so gosh darned cool in their smallness or something.

Used to be halflings, but a bizarro world opposite took over the race's name. Now I identify with gnomes the most.

damn! I should have voted Other for hobbits.

Among the core races, I'd go with dwarf. I've got the build, if not the height. I've got a beard and I enjoy a beer. Furthermore I'm Swedish, and as a scandinavian I am obligated by law to identify with anyone who brandishes a battle axe and wears a horned helmet.

By the by, why include human? I'd imagine we can all identify with being human. :)

I love the idea of elves, but the mechanical benefits of humans are far too great to pass up unless I have a really specific concept in mind that requires an elf (e.g. Arcane Archer). So I voted elf, even though I rarely play one.

Dwarf.

Beer-drinking sociologically-Saxon-Chinese undergound-dwelling and bearded suits me.

In-game, they also happen to be the strongest core race, so perhaps the developers agreed. :D
