Here is the Plot Hook,The village of Northbank is a haven for mages of all talents and a magnet for hopeful apprentices. Its wizards' guild was a respected center for instruction, study, and research. A Game was developed to test skills in Magic in a Tower known As Mandabore. Were a group of frist level Wizards and Sorrcers must team up and challenge all odds such as magical beast and undead for example. The PC must attend Mage Council meetings are because they are mandatory for all Survivors, and everyone is required to vote a fellow PC out of the Tower based on their proformance and team work, but consolation prizes will be awarded to the other Survivors, based on their order of elimination the last two PC who must face each other in Magical combat to win the Prize will get a Staff of power and a Scroll:Wish.

Depending on how many people are playing in the game you can change the prize this is just a example.

First person elimenated will get nothing.
Second person elimenatedwill get 100 gold.
Third person elimenated will get wand of fireballs.
Forth person elimenated will get Ring of Invisablity.

What do you people thing?

Its a good idea but my players would turn it into a big Big Borther spoof with too many injokes and sex references. So how would you do it - make the Tower a virtual Dungeon or a big illusion like the X-Men training rooms?

Well simply put it this way because I can, actually if you read the Dragonlance novels the Tower of High Sorcery, they kind of used virtual dungeon testing wizards but sometimes they use things that are real such as summoning monsters for example to challenge them most wizards never lived some have when they have to take the test the idea was to Teach something too wizards.The idea of this is to learn teamwork or deception with each player in order to win a prize that they will gain in the end also players would turn on each other in order to gain the prize.

Who are the mages, by the way? Is one a PC and all the others NPCs? Or is this a game where all the mages will be PCs (so you are essentailly making it "survivor" and you're just the host?) -- I can see the thing having entirely different directions depending on which way you answer this ...

In the intro you state "first level wizards and sorcerers" and then you note as the prize: the final two battle off for a staff of power and scroll of wish -- might these rewards be a little more than slightly unbalancing for first level folks?

To answer your question...

Mage are what you call Spell casters for example Wizards and sorcerers that battle with the use of Magic.You ever heard of a Battle Mage?

The DM is the host of the game so you can use Dungeon Master from the original cartoon series as your host NPC,or Jeff Probst who was a Host I think the original host of Survivor.The PC's are all 1st level Magic-users they do gain experience points too for playing, and facing each challenge in the game as you know the DM is allowed to make there own Dungeon. This is just a idea of adventure that leads players to an obstacle they face in the game by voting off players out of the game they feel is an obstacle for them in the game to gain the prize.Oh sure that is unbalancing but do you think any player would kill for items like that?


But remember only one can win the prize that great if its worth it.

Oh, I understand the terminology. I simply meant -- who is competing? Is it one PC caster grouped with several NPC casters? Or are all the people playing the game PCs?

The Players as the PC's actually grouped together and team up or backstab each other to win the prize you could put an NPC in the game just to add to the challange of the game depending on how many people are playing the game.Put it this way, only Spell Casters can play this game unless someone made up the idea of the Barbarian's,Bard's Cleric's,Fighters’s,Rogue's,Ranger's,Druid's Challenge:The Survivor edition, except for Palidans because they are too lawful.

It would be a silly adventure to try out on your friends to see who would be sneaky to vote your friends out of the Tower and win the prize.They do get items and scrolls that would help them out in the game if they earn it.

Basiclly, if you seen the show Survivor you know the rules of the game and how its played if the player can't pull there weight then the get voted out the the Island.
