Haven't those downloads been up to close to a decade now?
Yep, which is why I think it sucks IF they are now folding them into the DDI.

It then brings you to the homepage with its DDI login area, which implies that a DDI account will now be necessary in order to download these previously freely available download.
I hope that's not the case.
Well, dunno about you. I get redirected to the D&D Homepage, which is precisely the message that it puts up before the redirect.
Y'all go back to your regularly scheduled WOTC is Teh Evil jamboree.
It's a pretty crappy feature if it means you need to subscribe to DDI in order to access what use to be free content from older edition.![]()

And you're basing this on what? I don't know about your computer, but I was redirected to the homepage. That the DDI login is on the homepage is a bit of a stretch. Hrm, dead link that redirects you to the homepage - yeah, that's totally a reason to think they're going to put ten year old crap behind the pay wall. Not any of the other free stuff mind you. Not the dozens of free modules, free maps, and all the other goodies.
No, this is specifically targeting OSR people.
Gimme a break. Would be nice if people would just unlock, just the tiniest bit, the mindset that everything WOTC does is a personal insult and attack.
I don't see it as a personal attack. I see it as a POSSIBLE business decision designed to get more people to subscribe to DDI and/or move on the 4th edition.
And exactly what is wrong with WOTC putting older material under DDI?
I assume that IF WOTC does resume selling older material, it WOULD be under DDI?
I agree with you. If WotC is putting older edtion stuff under DDI, I'm cool with that...as long as it's also all the older edition stuff they pulled off the market April, 2009. Even if they only release them out a few pdf's per month. If the price for access to OOP pdf's is a DDI sub, then where do I sign up!![]()
