Wizard's Presents: Worlds and Monsters - Info on new and old settings?

Roman

First Post
Do you think the next preview book, Wizard's Presents: Worlds and Monsters, will have info on which settings might be updated for the new edition and/or which new ones may be created?

I sure hope so! I would be very disappointed if there were only info on the default points of light setting. I guess the 'Worlds' in the title is a plural form, so I can at least hope for more than that.

As an aside, nobody managed to scoop the book this time? It is already January 2008...

They probably tightened things up a bit based on the R&C fiasco. Plus it doesn't quite have the same urgency that races and classes do. The names of the creatures you're killing and looting don't matter quite as much as who you are and what you can do.

My guess is that the 'worlds' in the title refer more to the new planar landscape. Particularly the feywild and shadowfell. There may be a couple pages on FR and Eberron, and a couple paragraphs on why they aren't doing campaign setting 'X' right now (read, ever). But I wouldn't expect much.

I actually hope that it is mostly PoL fluff. I don't really have a great desire to go with Forgotten Realms or Eberron and I loved the fluff they had in R&C.

Which fiasco?

The hungarian one, with the book wandering around for weeks before the actual release.

Ah that. Fair enough. I just thought if maybe you were referring to some sales figures or something, that I hadn't heard about.

Cheers,

I would love to see some actual sales figures on R&C. I want to know if its as low as I suspect.
Just a personal anecdote from a small country on the other side of the world:

I dropped by the (the larger of the two) local Borders last Friday evening and managed to snag the last copy of R&C. A friend of mine, who was there earlier in the afternoon the same day, said that there were two other copies when he bought his. This means that Borders sold at least three copies of R&C in one day.

Of course, this could just be Borders under-estimating the number of local gamers interested in 4e and hence, the demand for R&C. :p

Hope they have some actual stats in there. Maybe some poWaHzz!! for monsters. And I hope we see what the beholders get instead of their disintegration eyestalk.

Won't be happening. They've said several times that the preview books are about timelines and design philosophy, not mechanics.
