Wizard's red dragon

The sheer size of that thing probably limits the "posability" of the model. I also think it won the origins for showing people how outrageously big a mini can be these days. The only thing I don't like is the removable fire cone. Toys have (re)movable parts but minis doesn't.

Well, I actually like sculpt. The thing that I don't like about it is the paint job. For the price it just should be better, with far more layers. The breastpale should be yellowish rather than red (that alone would have improved the look of the figure instantly) and there should have been at least one more step of lighter red highlights IMO.

PS: McFarlane dragons are really good. I have been meaning to get some. Some have *human* figures, im so going to cut them out when i get a chance.
Yep Berserker series 5 comes with those free halflings.

I have it - and I love it. It is enormous, but I can't wait for the day I spring it on my players.

I also have the black and the blue - both very nice. Unfortunately, the Dracolich is pretty small - I wanted something to use as Dragotha in AoW.

RAFM Necrodrake, Reaper's Keledrax or Ral-Partha's limited edition Dracolich are the only undead dragons near colossal or gargantuan AFAIK. Other than the Mcfarlane Fossil dragon that will be out this month or next.

Massive Fossil dragon reaches a height of 10 inches at top of translucent wing. Hinge joint on jaw; articulated at shoulders and hips; poseable tail. Includes flaming mane, partial body armor and highly detailed custom base.

Now that is pretty darn cool. I don't own any McFarlan dragons - but that might well become the first.

The sculpt has nice surfacing, but the pose... just ruins it. Its dosen't convey any personality in my humble opinion. However I fully agree about its paint job, and yeah its breast plate should be yellow. I think last gen con (not sure) they had a repaint of that thing with alot more detail. it was a prize for some contest. And yeah, the repaint had a yellow breast plate, and it looked alot better.

*edit*

Imho d&d minis should be based on one of two schools of thought.

1 capturing a moment before a full action or thought
http://cla.calpoly.edu/~smarx/courses/204/damoses/moses.jpg
2 capturing the most exhilarating or peek of an action, motion or moment.
http://www.supermancollectors.com/images/action816big.jpg

the first one is utilized by Michaelangelo. in the sculpture it inspires what could be. the sculpture of Mosis sitting is a good example of this.

the second one are used alot by comic book artists to convey the action itself in a stimulating way. this lends its self well for nice vinyets

I have all three, and the red is the only one stayng in its box.

I love the black though. Looks like it's plotting something, or commanding a bunch of scaly minions.
