interesting..there's a random table in the SRD? I thought that was a big "no no"...
Since the SRD belongs to WOTC, they can do anything they want. But, iae, why would you think random tables were not part of the SRD?
what's different than before from the magic items of this release to the previous ones??
The previous releases -- weren't. Since August 2000, D20 publishers have been using an *unreleased* version of the SRD hosted at
www.opengamingfoundation.org. This was used under a 'gentlemans agreement' with WOTC, saying, in effect, "We'll let you use this SRD as if it were open content, but you have to change your products if we change anything when it's finally released." This kind of caveat doesn't apply to truly open (released under the OGL) content; no limitations of that nature can be applied. So, anything released from the 'draft' SRD to the 'real' SRD is Big News, because it's one more piece of D&D that is forever free. Anything which exists only in the draft SRD can, in theory, be closed up again, but, once it's officially released, it can't be.
Monsters next, I hope....
