Wizkid's HeroClix is awesome, but NBC's Heroes sucks

Personally, I'd much rather see a video-game or board-game for "Heroes", rather than a "Heroclix" expansion.
I strongly suspect you'll see both of them. It is a pretty hot property, after all. It just seems like a natural progression from Clix to RPGs. I see it all the time in my local game shop: young kids play Clix until they're starting to look for something more interesting to do with them...then they lead most of them to RPGs.

I hope this will work in some similar way with older folks who find the Heros Clix. I have been quite surprised with the people who have told me they really love Heroes, and who are looking for all sorts of games to play based on it. The safety manager for our lab came in with a Save the Cheerleader shirt not too long ago. I would never have believed it if I hadn't seen it myself.

Out of morbid curiosity, though, I WOULD be interersted in seeing what the power levels of the Heroes figs are in comparison to the existing figs. Will they be comporable in power level to the "Infiinty Challenge" or subject to the power-creep of later sets?

Since it would be part of the "HeroClix" line, it would have to be fully compatible with the current game. That being said, it would have to be very low powered. For example, a low cost figure like the 111-point Spider-Man (from Avengers) or 65-point She-Hulk should be able to pounce Nikki anyday.

So, Nikki can send people flying across the room with a single punch, but when she hits Sylar with a parking meter he just keels over? What a stupid show.

Anywho, with Marvel Avengers we now have "special powers" for specific figures, which allows them to go beyond the current rules. For example, Spider-man (mentioned above) has a special webbing attack that no one else has.

It would seem highly likely these "Heroes" Clix figures would have special powers too, so the possibilities are limitless.

While I like both "Heroes" and Heroclix, the first thing I thought when hearing this was, "awesome, pre-painted 'normal' figs for other games."

I actually love that show. It is refresfing and new and kind of has a beginning x-men feel to it. It doesn't go over the top with special effects and corny one liners and it is not reality TV and it is well written. Not sure what you have against it.

I don't really mind a cross over "toy", it is good for young kids.

With Green Ronin close to releasing Paragons, "Heroes" might not have a good shot at getting the M&M treatment, but I think it would be a smart move if someone did it.

Too many inconsistencies. How does Sylar get out of Hiro's stop time ability? I mean time *stopped*! He shouldn't even perceive that it stopped, let alone be able to overcome it!

Then there is the whole "bullet can't hurt me" thing. Seriously, Even Claire goes down when she gets hit. She just don't *stay* down. This guy can stop bullets, sure, I can buy that, but to get hit and then get up and walk away??? What use is a sword through the gut gonna be after something like that?

Don't get me wrong. I like the series. But I think they made Sylar too much of a "I can do everything and stop everything" guy to be a good villian or even a camp villian. He is just... stupid.

You could add Horn-Rimmed Glasses and the Haitian to the list. The former has no power, and the latter has no offensive power, but they're both pretty good shots. HRG is basically a bad-:):):) normal.

Hana Gitelman has no combat power, but she's supposed to be an amazing combatant.

D. L. is just strong, and his ability to [sblock]stick his phased fist into someone's brain and then unphase it[/sblock] is quite deadly.

I'm a big fan of the show, actually. It's not great writing or acting, yet there's something appealing about it.

Hana? The one that can be anyone and play with your mind?

Also, I don't know why everyone liked Claire so much. I like Charlie better... Even Nikki.

No, that was Candice Wilmer. Wilmer is a pretty good kickboxer [sblock]but of course has no special combat powers and so so couldn't beat Nikki.[/sblock]

Claire is cute, and disturbingly hot in the episode set five years in the future. Charlie was on-screen for a very short period of time and her sole role in the show was to be a love interest and "disposable woman". Hana Gitelman only appeared in two episodes yet she had plot*, character development* and the ability to kick butt completely apart from her powers.

* From the "graphic novels" mainly.

Which one's Hana, then?

Hot? I always found her... disturbing. I always had the impression that someone did a "Carrot" on her...

Charlie might be disposable, but she's a better looker than Claire... IMO. More "real" as it were.
