how would you present R2D2 as a DnD Character

What Race and Class combination works? and is he wearing full plate armour or something else?

Actually how would you do the other Star Wars characters
(Leia and Luke as Half-elfs with a elf mother and human father hmm)

anyway just wondering what you might do

Ranger/Rogue, High Wis, High Cha, High Int.
Kender or gnome.
Planer subtype from Mecanis.

Doesn't Eberron have a Small-sized Warforged? That was my first thought as far as race. I'd give him high Int and Wis, certainly, but I think his Cha should be in the penalty range to reflect both his head-strong nature and his unintelligible speech .

Class-wise, yeah, you can't beat a Rogue as skill-monkey. But I was thinking either a Factotum from "Dungeonscape" or (Dipping into Eberron again) an Artifactor to reflect his technical skills.

Just some thoughts.

Well, we already have d20 stats of R2-D2 from the SWRPG. 3 different versions depending on the edition, so we can try to convert from those stats to D&D.

In the Original Core Rules and the Revised Core Rules he was a Expert 4/Scout 3
STR 14
DEX 14
CON 14
INT 18
WIS 12
CHA 11

In Saga Edition he is a Nonheroic 2/Scoundrel 6
STR 8
DEX 16
CON -
INT 16
WIS 10
CHA 7

That should give some fodder to work with.

My first thought for race was as MrWildmand suggested warforged. I think I would go with a few levels of Expert/Rogue then for his class.

Pure D&D? Yeah, I'd say a small warforged rogue would do the job. Lots of ranks in Open Lock and Disable Device.

Yeah, definitely Rogue levels. Even Sneak Attack fits, Artoo was always blindsiding someone or zapping a battledroid.

Factotum just seems to be a nice representation of all those little doors that cover R2 units and reveal endless probes and "just the right tool" for any job.
Plus, I've just never built a Factotum before; I'd have to borrow a friend's copy of the book to do so. But it's something I've been eager to explore further, that's all.

Luke - Soulknife/Psywarrior gestalted with Paladin
Leia - Noble/Rogue
Han - Rogue/Ranger
C-3PO - Gold Elf Bard with many ranks in speak language and Knowledge(Nobility)
Darth Vader - Fiendish soulknife/psywarrior gestalted with blackguard
Emperor Palpatine - Half-fiend psion

If you want the "spirit" of R2D2 more than the fact that he'd be a construct (in which case a warforged scout Rogue), I'd say:
