Wondering:R2D2 as a DnD Character

If you want the "spirit" of R2D2 more than the fact that he'd be a construct (in which case a warforged scout Rogue), I'd say:

Arthur Deitre
dwarf Rogue 8
S 10
D 14
Co 19
I 18
W 12
Ch 14

with Tactile Trapsmith (Int to Open Lock/Diable Device) and Force of Personality (Cha to Will saves). Could head into Dungeon Delver later.

That's a pretty fun way to look at it. The one thing I might change is I'd make him a gnome, rather than a dwarf...I think Artoo's personality is closer to a gnome's.

I think he's more of a gearhead. And if I make him dwarf, I can save gnomes for Yoda! ;)

Gearhead, yes, but gnomes can be that, too. And, Artoo has a sense of humor, which is a little unusual for a dwarf. :D

As to race, I was sure that someone would have already suggested rogue modron. The round body and single manipulative appendage fits nicely.

Pure D&D? Yeah, I'd say a small warforged rogue would do the job. Lots of ranks in Open Lock and Disable Device.

Those were called Warforged Scouts, I believe- no relation to the class of the same name.

Luke - Soulknife/Psywarrior gestalted with Paladin

I'd say Soulknife/Blade Manifester*/Illumine Soul

*Prestige class combining Soulknife & PsyWar features, from Cordell's Hyperconscious

Dude, his name gives it all away.

He's OBVIOUSLY a Rogue(2)/Druid(2).

Brilliant!

FTW!

Now, then...

Back in '77 when the movie was an unknown summer flick my cousin beautifully corrupted Artoo's name to "Artee Toodee".
Sounds like a gnome to me. A total sleight-of-hand prankster, with perhaps a level or two of Beguiler. . . ?

Actually, that makes me want to stat out V.I.N.CENT. from Disney's "The Black Hole". ;)

I thought surely Yoda would be Fey. . .

Gnomes as gearheads? Preposterous!

Next you know, you'll be calling them "tinker gnomes" or some other hare-brained concoction!

Shenanigans, I say!
