World of Warcraft RPG (d20)

Even though the database got messed up and the thread is no longer here, I just gotta give a thanks to Arscott for selling me a The Manual of Monsters I needed so badly! Got it today! Great shape and just like new! The bindings still crack and pop when the cover opens!

So I had my first game the other night, and I kinda modeled the adventure similar to a quest chain out of the MMO game. Things seemed to have gone good, a few praises and no complaints. They completed the entire chain in one sitting, (It helped I had battle mats with the maps of certain sections already drawn out) and they even commented that they felt like they actually accomplished something meaningful in the game.

So anyone else have gaming experience with the WoW setting?

I was actually thinking of starting a new campaign in this setting. I've used Forgotten Realms, Greyhawk, Iron Kingdoms, home brew, and some Eberron. I am torn between WoW and City State of the Invincible Overlord.

I have never played the computer version of this nor any other game. I am curious how the power levels are and if they balance out well. The technology/magic mix has my attention, which was also my draw to Iron Kingdoms. I want a more traditional magic system (for magic items, no Mechanika) and technology so that my new players have something to work with.

I am off my low magic/gritty game kick and I am curious if this game has the potential it looks to have.

You're welcome. I'm glad to help. Did you have any problems using the MoM with the newer "World of" version of the game? And how did the Raicial Classes and the Modified spell system work out?

Also: if anyone else is interested, here's what I've still got for sale:

WarCraft RPG core book (Used)--$20

Though I dont make use of the setting (to many of the people in my group play WoW) I do make use of much of their material IMC. The MM has many unique creatures, and Magic&Mayham has alot of great spells. I also love reading their fluff, and have bought several PDFs from RPG net.

I had already run the game a few weeks prior to getting the book from you, so I can't comment yet on the conversions needed. Most will be simple but the arcance caster swithing will be a chore.

The game is really high power. Magic items the boost 2 stats from +1 each to +5 each. Hero points are in the game, but their similar to action points from Ebberon, but alot more potent, and alot harder to get.

Haven't stepped into the tech stuff yet, other than guns, but you just have to keep in mind the stuff is just like a magic item and treat it as such.

I mostly collect them because a.) I'm a collector and b.) I play WoW online. However, I have been borrowing bits and pieces from them to include in a 'regular' Eberron campaign set mostly in Breland but with excursions into Zilargo (gnome territory). Mostly I use the tech rules and some of the 'other' humanoids. Quilboars, Firbolgs and Pandarens make for some good and fresh new faces to make as enemies and allies.

Speaking of, Arscott sent me a copy of the Alliance and Horde Compendium, but I think my mail man is lost cause I haven't seen it yet. I'll post here when it does arrive. It'll finally complete my collection until they print the next books.
