World War Hulk sucks (spoilers)

I finally read the last World War Hulk book, and man I am pissed.

So the explosion was caused by some sort of rebels on Planet Hulk? And Miek is at fault for not telling Hulk?

I couldn't care less that "no one died". Frankly, I am sure Rick Jones will pop back from the dead too. But after taking $3.99 from me for five issues, you're going to tell me -- "Hulk is an idiot, and so is the reader?"

What the hell? All that for NOTHING.

NOTHING!

THAT IS CRAP. I feel like I have been baited and switched. God, this is almost as bad as the Civil War ending. I am done with Marvel.

Yeah, that explanation was lamer than a two-legged horse.

Honestly, while the ending was a bit eh...there wasn't much else it could have done.

Not to mention that the whole Miek knowing stuff was hinted at already about four or five months ago. The exact specifics we didn't know, but it was obvious he was hiding SOMETHING about the explosion from Hulk for a long time now.

What I will say, though, is that it was exactly what it needed to be after Civil War. Action, punching, and good old fashioned smashing. The delay really hurt the series, but that happens with most things these days, sadly.

Either way, this has been stated to be the second act of a three act story, of sorts, and its not AS bad an ending from that perspective.

That, and...[sblock]Skaar, Son of the Hulk screams great potential.[/sblock]

Overall, though, WWH and Civil War are no Annihilation.

I actually liked how it ended. The whole story was very good, but those 3-lame panels where Miek basically took blame for all that happened -- THAT WAS SO STUPID.

We don't need a "surprise" ending. Honestly, take out those 3 panels and you have a pretty good story.

How's this for an alternate ending:

Miek is infuriated by the fact that Hulk won't kill the humans, settling for razing Manhattan to the ground. So he goes for Rick Jones, forcing Banner to become the HUlk and fight Miek. In the end, Hulk kills Miek and all else proceeds as usual.

No mention is made of the shuttle bomb or anything.

I've not read any of World War Hulk, but was there any explanation ever given for the Hulks apparent ability to beat Black Bolt?

He's the strongest one there is. He's never been madder, so he's never been stronger.

No need for an alternate ending. Just end it with the Hulk and Warbound losing, and "no one" at fault for the warp core going supernova.

That would have made it all that more powerful.
