World War Z

"What the ...?" Mike says half-aloud. "That's one big fire" he thinks as he watches the glow grow. Edit: He pulls on his black fatigues pants and and turns on the tv to news-channel in case there would be some emergency news. He keeps looking through the window.
[sblock]Ok. Since you never said how you're going to handle rolling I presumed you roll the dice. Or if you did I must have missed it.
So here's my next perception to see if I notice anything amiss on my way to the car:
no luck tonight[/sblock]

[sblock=Edited out]Might be a good idea to leave the apartment in case the fire gets out of control. Mike puts on his black fatigues-pants and a t-shirt. He looks around to see if there's something he should get with him. The wakizashi is just a cheap ornamental replica so that can be left behind but the tanto is real thing. No way he's gonna leave that to the fire. So he puts it in the laptop-case and takes that with him. Leaving his apartment he puts on a leather jacket in case it's going to be a chilly night. Mike heads down and towards his red toyota.[/sblock]

Arell regards the police cars with little interest. After all, he had seen flocks of police cars drive by many times, it was no longer something that would cause alarm. Tired of working his brain overtime, Arell decides to lose some brain cells and begins channel surfing on TV.

Jason sprints as fast as he can to his little housee, paying as much attention as neccessary to not be killed. Its not far from where I live, better hurry home he says aloud.

[Jason]

[sblock=Jason]Just as an addendum to your post... "Paying as much attention not to be killed"?

There is a difference of about 6-700 meters of open water between you and the opposite bridge, and while they let out relitively close to each other, 300 meters or so, It simply looks like a bunch of people panicing and running away from a fire. Not really life threatening =P

That said, if you're sprinting, I'd like an endurance check =) Stamina + Athletics.[/sblock]

With only a moment's waiting and watching, Jason sprinted off, working his way down the somewhat sloped bridge as quickly as he could. The occational glance would be flashed to the far bridge, though with the shoddy construction of his own and the darkness of his own, they were little more than brief flashes, the sight of people occationally highlighted by headlights.

More were the sound, screams, paniced honkings of horns. And then the night spit, a tremendous crash echoing out over the river, the collapse of a building, the screeching of tires. More screams as Jason reached the lower end of the bridge, Three blocks now from his home.

[Mike]

[sblock=Mike]Likewise to Jason's post, I'll bring up quickly that the fire is really zero danger to you. Between your apartment and it is a river, and fire doesn't really travel across bridges. I'm gonna leave out any responce for the time being. If you'd like to edit your post I'll be checking back periodically. If you'd like to keep it, Just post as much in the ooc thread =)[/sblock]

[Darwin]

Three numbers were dialed to the phone, a short pause, a single ring, then a click as the line connected. "Nine One One, What is your emergancy?"

He'd barely spoken two words out of his mouth before the opperator halted him with quick, suscinct words. "Sir, Sir! At this time the Riot on Broadway is our top priority. For your own protection please lock all your doors and windows. If possible find a windowless room and lock yourself in. The situation will be resolved as quickly as possible. Do you understand?"

[Ethan]

The view from his peep hole was essentially useless, but being that close, he was close enough to recognize a noise from below. It was a soft cry, a feminine moan, but not nearly something arousing. Soon enough it was joined by another, then a pair of three more, that glass crackling beneath feet.

Turning around to check the window, he'd spot something far more interesting, a single line running muted along the bottom of his screen. A public service announcement warning him to avoid Broadway Ave, giving news 650 as a source for updated news.

[sblock=ethan]Alright, first off you've got two perception checks one to notice the tv. Which you managed with Two successes

The second, notices the moaning from the first floor entrance. With Four Success I gave you which door it was specifically. =)[/sblock]

[Arell]

Channel flipping paid off for you in spades. Flipping through channels you'd go through the usual, the comedy, the teletoon. A brief flip to an episode of simpsons on global would find news instead, but a recognizable local picture would stop your thumbs.

The image was Broadway Ave. The theater there on fire, a car burst through its door on its side, evidently the start of the issue. The reporter was rambling on, a riot occuring, apparently started by a brawl outside Lydia's nightclub, it had erupted into full scale violence for unknown reasons.

At least two officers were down, and the fire was spreading as fire crews were as of yet unable to reach the source of the blaze.

[sblock=Arell]One success on a perception check. Good enough to catch the news =)[/sblock]

[Jim & Adam]

"Shoppers." Came Adam's simple reply. A former night shift employee at 7-11, he always chose his new employer, if given a choice. Half of the reasoning was his staff discount, the other, his unease going back to a store in which he had quit without notice.

The two walked for another two minutes, a wave cast to the security guard as they entered the brightly lit shoppers drug mart. The guard in question was a rather strange woman, perhaps 100lbs from looking at her, she was a recovering addict, her frame looking as though she could be broken in half with one hand, and, indeed unarmed that was entirely true.

While Jim made his way into the store, Adam stopped briefly, caught aback by words snipped from the guards phone conversation, something about damage to the broadway store, and a riot. Curious, he'd join her, the woman covering the mouthpiece to chat.

"Thank god. Can you explain to those..." she paused, glancing around to be certain before speaking "damn asians that they need to call your manager and get him to shut down the store?"

"Err... why?" Was Adam's quick responce. He knew the two she was talking about. The head office had determined that hiring thier night staff as foreign workers would allow them to hire more english speaking candidates during the day, while keeping their 'equal oppertunity' policies. Unfortunately this had the direct result of litterally half the night crew being impossible to understand.

"My boss is on his way down to the hospital from broadway shoppers. Turns out there is a big riot of people, smashed up the store something fierce, beat the hell out of the staff and roughed up our guard. Police are on their way, but he says that there is a pretty big crowd of rioters headed down 8th street." Came her reply, seeming a bit shaken. She jumped as noise erupted from the covered reciever, a scream, a loud shriek of noise, before the line went dead.

[Derek]

Flipping on the TV, you'd get roughly the same information as Arell.

[sblock=Derek]Yup, you can know and call darwin =)

You made your perception check in regards to tv. As evidenced Here. Sorry for the short post on your part but its pretty much a rehash hehe.

Also, just as a side note, you live about.. I'll say 3 blocks from Darwin.[/sblock]

Wow, a riot like that......here?, Derek asked himself aloud. I wonder what started it. Derek knows he locked the doors, he does it as soon as he comes in for the night. Broadway....... I wonder if I can see the fire out of my window.

Quickly turning to news 650, Ethan reaches over to the phone and punches in the numbers 911. Keeping an eye on the tv he moves to make sure his door is bolted and latched, not wanting to run any risks from the moaners a couple floors down. Looking around he even goes as far as to slide his kitchen buffet in front of the inward-swinging door. Busy signals ring in from the phone, obviously emergency dispatch being flooded with callers about whatever was going down on Broadway. It was at times like this when he wished he owned a gun, but instead he resorted to an aluminum baseball bat he pulled out from his closet and a butcher's knife out from the block on the counter.

[sblock=OOC]I sure am perceptive, it's handy. Just not overly prepared for zombie attacks. Do I have a balcony? A fire-extinguisher with a fire-axe?[/sblock]

Darwin pockets his Manriki-gusari and looks around the house for something to be threatening with, He picks up his mag-light and vegetable cleaver.

At this point I'd probably call my girlfriend playing myself most realistically. If she answers I'd go resque her then I don't know what you wanna do with her in the game. If something has happened to her, then well, um, I'm taking alot of Zack with me.[/SBLOCK]

endurance=3
(injuries suck)
speed=10

[sblock=caros]this is assuming I made it back without a major incidence[/sblock]

Apon entering his house, Jason turns on the TV then runs to his room, grabbing the glock and ammo stored in his closet. Back in the living room, Jason filps to the news before flopping, tired from the running, onto a couch to see whats going on and to load the gun

Arell is not directly bothered by what he sees on the news. Despite being in the same city as him, he doesn't feel like it is close enough to him to cause him any problems. He switches off from the news, and starts to watch simpsons again. One may not be too surprised by his apathy though, considering his living room is adorned of weapons, most notably his katana and wakazashi, as well as his good ol' metal pole, though he does pull back the curtains and keep an eye on whats going on in the streets outside, as well as keeping an ear open. This may indeed by an interesting night. He wil be randomly switching back to the new every 5 to 15 minutes to keep an eye on the progress of the riot.
