D&D General Worldbuilding and the (Technology) Progress Levels of Alternity & D20 Future

Stone Age or PL0 is very much a hard one to conceive of and have as an interesting setting location, I think most of D&D sort of looks over something like that. Though such a place could have the "primal" spirits that quite readily interact and be present in the material world. And course there's always the idea of throwing in dinosaurs in such a place, it goes with the theme.

Bronze/Iron Age or PL1 is covered by Dark Sun and maybe some of the 2e historical guides like Glory of Rome campaign book which I've never read. Dark Sun I feel is perhaps the most prevalent setting for that progress level.

But Progress Levels 0 to 4 are adequate for what they represent, though in D&D possibly the Medieval to Age of Reason levels might need to be split a bit more.

I realize that PL5 has massive differences in many areas, while technically a Tommy Gun and a H&K UMP 45 might have similar stats, something like the Red Baron's fighter plane has nothing on a modern advanced jet fighter even though they're both PL5.

And of course fantasy brings a whole different spanner to the works, D&D frigates and galleons are anachronistic, a wand of lightning bolts is effectively a laser, and Warforged are robots. We Also saw in the Avatar movie, ‘stone-age’ people riding ‘dragons’ taking on TL 8 advance military armoured Aircraft
