Worst Feat Ever

Gotta be Toughness. It's a weak feat at first level and a waste of a feat slot at any higher level. I've never known anybody to take core rules toughness for their character and changing Toughness to 1 HP/level seems to be one of the most common house rules out there.

Toughness as written is a really weak feat. I've house ruled it and I've got a homebrew feat tree for which Toughness is the base feat. It's still not that popular.

Combat Casting (why get a +4 bonus to one use of a skill when you could get a +3 bonus to all uses of the same skill)

Combat Casting made alot more sense when skill focus only gave a +2 bonus. Now that skill focus gives a +3 bonus, Combat Casting should have been moved up to +5.

Endurance (the addition of Die Hard makes Endurance slightly better in 3.5 but it still isn't too good, PC's dont' tend to get in forced march situations too often)

In your campaign maybe. I'm infamous for trying to drown characters, and any wilderness exploration is bound to involve a few weather hazards. But, I agree, that Endurance you have had a feat tree that extended up from it. Die Hard is a good start, but there is more that can be done.

1. Weapon Specialization: Net. By definition. Damage bonus to a weapon that does not deal damage. Benefit: zilch. Can't even justify taking it just to argue.

2. Skill Focus (Decipher Script). 'Nuff said.

3. Deft Hands and/or Diligent. Some of the most utterly useless skills in the game, packaged neatly into a pair of feats.

Funny. I get Combat Casting almost every time I play a spellcaster.

Sure, you can also get Skill Focus (concentration). But that's the point. You can also get it. They stack. It's pretty easy, with both, to create a spellcaster who never has to roll to successfully cast defensively.

Your spellcasters can afford to blow two feats on their concentration skill? Espically when, by investing normal skill points, they will be able to cast defensively just as easily within a few levels? Guess you don't make much use of metamagic or item creation huh?

Skill Focus (concentration) is justifiable, you will still have to make concentration checks against scaling DC's for taking damage while casting, etc. Combat Casting is a waste IMO. Casting Defensively is too easy to do without it.

Later.

Actually, many of my spellcasters don't take Item Creation feats. It's just not something that appeals to me, except for a very narrow range of character types.

That said, no, I often don't spend two feats on Concentration. I'm just saying that it can be done. When I take one or the other, I usually just take Combat Casting. In most of the campaigns I've played in to date, casting defensively comes up far more often than any other Concentration roll, so the extra +1 is worth the more limited useage.

YMMV, of course.

We don't bother with item creation feats as we never have the time to stop to utilize them. The wizard is better off getting metamagic feats instead. Same with clerics (to a lesser degree).

Noone has taken Toughness but alot do take Dodge. Sometimes that +1 bonus to one creature can make a difference! And all our spellcasters take Combat Casting. It's usually their first or third level feat that they take.
