There we go, that makes sense... although I have to say I liked Lords of Darkness too. Never used much of it mechanically, but it was a good read.

Demiurge out.
I loved Lords of Darkness, but that was probably because my Story Hour kinda focuses on war against the Zhentarim, with other organizations causing all kinds of trouble to keep the heroes from focusing their efforts too much.

Probably OGL Ancients. The systems are just terrible. They tried to make combat more 'realistic' by including some rules for armor that was incredibly clunky. If I recall correctly:

The attack makes his roll. The defender makes an opposed defense roll with his shield. If it gets through, the defender makes a defense roll to see if he can dodge the blow. If that hits, the defender makes a defense roll to see if he can twist to put his armor in the way of the blow.

One attack roll, three defense rolls. ???

I have shelves and shelves of books I don't use, but only that particular book has drawn my ire. Unreasonable? Probably. :)

2 rolls. It's either a shield defense roll or a active defense roll (ie, dodging), not both. And then to see if the blow hit armor.

So pretty much like any other RPG that has a hit location.

And besides that, the book does come with entirely new classes, a new magic system and a bunch of spells, info on the ancient world, and a whole bunch of pretty nice color artwork and maps. So hardly a bad value, IMHO.

I would go with Trigun d20 myself. First off, you need BESM d20, even though it doesn't say it on the cover.

I think the MSRP was $40 and it's 190 pages. 144 in color, the rest black & white.

The color parts were just an episode guide for the show, 3 pages of text for each one, nothing which you couldn't learn by simply watching each episode.

Most of the game info is just stats for the various characters and a few pieces of equipment.

No real rules for running a game on the world, nor any real setting info (other than what you could distill from info in the episode guide).

I think the easy winner in my collection is The Foundation. An ultra crappy early OGL fattempt at a D20 Superhero game.

Not just poor value for money, but possibly the worst gaming product I own.
