WotC 2006 January through April releases

The Red Hand of Doom
James Jacobs with Richard Baker
An exciting super-adventure that pits heroes agains an army bent on domination.
Rampaging hobgoblins and their allies threaten to destroy the realm and all who stand before them. Characters who dare confront the horde soon discover that these particular hobgoblins worship Tiamat, the evil queen of dragons, and eventually come face-to-face with her draconic minions.
This 128-page adventure features a new format easily used by Dungeon Masters. The Red Hand of Doom includes encounters designed for use with the D&D miniatures game.
128 page softcover, $24.95

Anyone know what this means? Are they starting to integrate the two games?

Races of the Dragon - The transitional dragon-race sounds like a rip from AU/AE to me, but I love that the Kobolds are getting some love. I agree that the half-dragon is a dead horse and if it were up to me they would be left that way. What are the spellscales though? The rest sounds intriguing enough and, combined with the kobold love, it is enough that I think I will get this book.

Player's Guide to Eberron - Looks good to me. I haven't been disappointed in the Eberron hardcovers yet, so I think I might get this one, too.

The Red Hand of Doom - I don't usually get adventures, but if the new format looks good when I flip through this in the store I might get it. That is a big if, though.

d20 Future Tech - Don't play d20 Future, Modern, or Past (and I have absolutely zero desire to change that) so I will be avoiding this as well.

Tome of Magic: Pact, Shadow, and the True Name Magic - This sounds very intriguing and will, no doubt, look nice next to the Magic of Incarnum book I intend to get. The Truename magic being the big draw for me here, but the Pact magic also sounds interesting...

Power of Faerun - I have no interest in playing in FR, but I sometimes mine the books for ideas, though I haven't bought one in ages. Epic rules do nothing for me at all. I never play that high a level game and I have zero interest in do so. The only thing that sounds interesting is the organizations part. I might look at this in the store, but I highly doubt this will get bought by me.

Complete Psionic - This is a must buy for me. I have yet to play a psionic character, but I am very interested in the psionic system, feats, races, and classes. I am a big fan of alternate magic systems and psionics needs more support.

Fantastic Locations: The Keep of Fallen KingsThe map sounds neat, but otherwise this has no appeal to me. I will probably avoid buying this.

Voyage of the Golden Dragon - I have yet to buy any Eberron adventures and from what I have heard about them I never will, unless I find them in the discount bin. The same goes for this one.

War Drums Miniatures - I usually buy a few boxes of every mini set. This will probably be no different for me.

I looks like it. Not surprising since they've been doing that with the SW Minis books when they offer NCP stats for the RPG game.

I'm not worried about it at all. Kestrel is a great writer and has a good understanding of the rules. The fey articles are well done, and I didn't notice a whole lot of "cutesy" in them. I'd say wait until it's released. You could very well be surprised.

Something about Power of Faerun is bothering me...everyone keeps saying "Epic" this and "Epic" that but it doesn't once say "Epic" in the description. Wouldn't WotC actually SAY "Epic" instead of "High Level" if that's what they meant? I mean, there is a different between the two.

These are the only two I have any interest in whatsoever. I do echo the sentiments for wanting a book of fey, though!

Is there? Is there?

Not to be gender biased or anything, but does the fact that Races of the Dragon was written by an all-female crew give anyone else a bad feeling? I don’t deny that this particular team of women did an excellent job on the fey articles on the WotC site, but those articles definitely had something of a “female-centric” flavor to them. This was great for the fey, but I’m not so sure it would work as well for kobolds and half-dragons. Kobolds in particular pose a real danger of being done in a “cutesy” way, and it would drive me nuts if after waiting so long for a cool book on Kobolds and half-dragons I instead got a bunch of cutesy crap.

I know I should give them the benefit of the doubt, but I just get an uneasy feeling about this. I surely hope that my gut turns out to be wrong on this one.

Why should there be a 'bad' feeling about a all female writing cast on a book. Compare that thought, to the amount written by men, and tell me if there is a equal footing on that aspect.
