D&D 4E WotC and 4E Communication Feedback

The videos with Rob Heinsoo & Mike Mearls were my favourites of the lot. They're very knowledgeable and good communicators, which makes for good watching. I also had no idea that James Wyatt was putting out another Eberron novel - I'll pick that one up for sure.

ps - As alluded to by Wulf, I was glad to see pants at the end there. *chuckle*

Yeah, the forum downtime is often at the time I actually get to browse the forums, so it's very annoying.

The blogs and video interviews are fantastic, Mike. I've been having a ball watching them (do you really look like that?!?) and I really hope they continue. I can only hope I haven't exceeded my download limit (having to use Satellite internet can be a pain; but it's better than the dial-up I was on).

Other than that, I'm really looking to regular updates on what's going on with the playtest/design process, etc.

Cheers!

I would suggest that you con sider re-formatting the WotC 4E forums and not trying to lump each individual issue into a single thread. After only 3 days the threads are bloated and at the point where answers to questions are impossible to find.

The countdown gaffe, the boards crashing and the lack of a table (or pants) for the interviews are all instant classics on how not to launch new gaming features.

Oh yeah ... please dont refer to the places where my friends and I gather to play as a "meatspace". It's not a kewl term, and really doesn't help counter the perception that WotC is focusing more on the digital side of things. Just a thought.

Yeah, a bunch of untan guys wearing tan colored khaki shorts probably wasn't the best wardrobe choice for sit down interviews. Honestly, Bob Mull (cameraman) and I were really just making it all up as we went along. We had a vague notion of what we wanted to do at the show, and then just kinda went nuts on it.

I was constantly checking the forums, seeing what the burning questions were, then grabbing one of the D&D guys and forcing on camera real quick to get some answers. Then we'd rush it down to Greg Collins, who was our behind-the-scenes director who did such an awesome job of getting all those videos up through out the weekend. So hats off to Greg, whose sportswriting background proved invaluable in making it work out.

Gratified to hear you say this. :)

Thanks for doing the on-the-spot video podcasts, they've been really informative and interesting. Well done.

While we're discussing electronic stuff, folks have noticed that a lot of the 2007, 2006 and 2005 entries normally found in the Archives seem to have gone kablooey.

Archives main: http://www.wizards.com/default.asp?x=dnd/archives

2006 Archives (as an example): http://www.wizards.com/default.asp?x=dnd/arch/2006

What's displayed in 2006 (one title, and one link without a title) seems indicative of some kind of database error possibly.

And yet you get to 2004 and everything seems to work ok. http://www.wizards.com/default.asp?x=dnd/arch/2004

One thing I noticed on D&D Insider that might improve things a touch: I read one of the articles you posted, I think it was the Party Roles piece about Martial Power. After I read it, I clicked the "Discuss this Article" link and it took me to the Forums main page. Perhaps it did this because nobody had started a discussion about the article, but I didn't have time to go searching for whereever it might be. It might be more useful to direct that link to a dedicated thread that perhaps the Wiz-Os can open when an article is posted.

Yes, I'm particularly feeling the loss of Keith's Dragonshards articles.

I'll check into that. Thanks for the heads up.
