WotC Angst?

On a one-ten scale, how would you rate your level of WotC Angst?

Bleah. I'd like to buy product (it looks cool, at least), but playing it leaves a sour taste in my mouth, as was my experience with the Castle Ravenloft boardgame.

I don't really have strong feelings one way or the other. But I do think they bungle customer relations far more than they do a good job. They just seem to have a knack for doing things in the worst possible way. :)

Lack of communication is their worst problem. They went from saying too much to saying too little. The way WotC handled Character Builder's delays was poorly done.

I can't say I'm happy that we've seen no new Dragonlance novels.

I'm also concerned that I'm not seeing much new mainstream D&D products at the moment, and we're seeing some get canceled.

I have to say, though, that a lot of what brings me down about WotC is all the WotC angst I'm reading on several forum posts. I try not to read them, but sometimes I can't help but look. It's like a bad roadside accident. You don't want to watch, but you do anyway.

Yeah, I have a bit of WotC angst but these days I get more irritated by linguistic pet peeves than by WotC...

I used to get mad at game companies. Nowadays I could care less.
If you could care less, you would care to some degree. Possibly to a very high degree.

So I think you mean you couldn't care less. :D

Caring less is not the same thing as saying I don't care. It just means it's somewhere between I don't care and I won't make as big of a deal about it as other people would.

So really, it is a correct saying.

So it's completely irregardless to the grammar notseize.

In my "Fire Extinguishers and Prozac" thread, I mentioned that I'm pretty much over the "Edition War," and am willing to let those choose the system that best fits their needs.

That doesn't mean I'm not still going to stand up and say, "Hey, I understand you think this is fun--let me show you some other ideas that might be more fun." And of course it goes without saying that my gameplay style is more "fun" than other styles and should be promoted in all future RPG releases universally. :)

But I chose "blech," one step above "meh," in part because WotC's flagship RPG isn't producing the type of character-driven and world-building experiences that I would like.

But even then I would have changed my vote to a mere "meh," if I wasn't getting the sense that WotC (and its most hardcore fanbois/fangrrls) weren't starting to a get a bit of "Apple Computer" syndrome--i.e., "If you don't like what we're producing, it's because you just don't 'get it,' and are therefore not worthy of our awesomeness." (Exhibit A: the whole "D&D isn't prancing with gnomes in the forest" marketing spiel).

But my lover Paizo, and my mistress waiting in the wings Savage Worlds have me generally feeling very warm and fuzzy inside these days regardless. ;)

Hmm....there's nothing to angst about with the stuff I was buying from WotC, since that was Star Wars, and they've cancelled that.

D&D and I have largely parted ways; I'd like to like 4E more than I do, but there are design philosophies that keep me largely away from it.

But there is one area of angst, or rather, anxiety: The standalone Ravenloft roleplaying game comes out late next year, and that could be very good, very bad, or anything in between or partaking of the two extremes. I hope it's very good; I'd actually rather have it canceled than wind up bad. (Those of you who remember the meltdown of the late 3E line may understand this.)

It's basic logic, not grammar dude. Think of it as a 0-to-10 meter: if your Care-o-Meter is anywhere from 1 to 10, you could care less. Because you do indeed care. If your Care-o-Meter is at 0, you could not care less.

Call me literal, or justify yourself with common usage, but don't call me a grammar Nazi. Because I'm also in favor of dropping the U from rogue, simply to avoid the whole rogue/rouge problem. B-)

I think at the moment there is a lot of angst...that is because threads on enworld tend to perpetuating.

We get on the subject of issues with WOTC. That leads someone to write another thread about WOTC.

Suddenly you are logging in and seeing 3 anti-WOTC threads...which makes you think there is definately some anti-WOTC sentiment going on.
