Early this week, WotC announced on Twitter that today there would be some kind of announcement on their Twitch channel. Those who heard that announcement and tuned in were treated to an announcement that the new storyline will be announced at a live event in June.

The press release announcing the impending announcement also mentions a new setting, as well as the storyline, so it sounds like it might not be set in the Forgotten Realms (or maybe is in a new region - to 5E - of the Realms, such as Icewind Dale). The adventure and the setting might be the same thing, or they might be completely different things. Recently, WotC has released a bunch of settings: Eberron, Ravnica, Wildemount, and the upcoming Theros.

Fans of D&D will learn all about the new setting and storyline

The new storyline specifically will be revealed at 12pm PST (8pm GMT) on Thursday, June 18th.

The June event will raise money for Comic Relief, and will feature celebrities including Brandon Routh (Superman), and will preview the brand new storyline. It takes place June 18th-20th. Other names involved include Felicia Day, Deborah Ann Woll, Amy Acker, David Harbour, Matthew Lillard, and more.

The three- or four-fingered hands (it's hard to tell, the creature's right hand looks like it has three, while the left looks like four, could definitely use a higher quality image) are interesting - is it a mind flayer behind that owlbear mask? It's obviously not an actual owlbear (no wings for starters), and mind flayers have long been rumored...
Zooming in, I thought it looks like the left hand has three fingers and there's just stuff in the background that gives the appearance of a forth. Those fingers definitely have talons, do illithids? While that's an owlbear's (or giant owl's) head, those look like yeti horns. If it weren't for the clawed, three-fingered hands, I would say that it's some sort of shaman. Those hands, though. Maybe they're gloves made from the talons of an owlbeal and two fingers each go in two of the talons while the third is the thumb. Or maybe it's a wendigo. I'd wager that those are winter wolves to the left of it, and that's probably some black ice to the creature's right.

This may be the first 5e adventure that I pick up (not counting those in the Starter and Essentials sets).

I was thinking cultist too until I saw the hands. Wendigo is an interesting idea as well, although traditionally they don't look like the creature in the illustration either. It's something of an intriguing mystery, really (again, if this is an actual leak and not a hoax).

Maybe it's some new owlbear-yeti hybrid? Instead of an owl-bear hybrid, an owl-yeti hybrid? I have no idea what you'd call that though, unless it's the snowy owlbear mentioned in the preview material...

so Ted from Nerd Inmersion Youtube channel believes is real. He mentioned on discord that dndbeyond uploaded for a few minutes a vid and rapidly took it down and whatever was show matches with the cover, but who knows for sure.

Looks legit. Maybe not Mindflayer related, after all...

They might not want to give away all the plot on the cover, although that would be something of an exception for 5e adventures to not display the big bad prominently.

I do have to say, it's definitely one of the most evocative covers we've had, helped out by the fact that even D&D veterans don't know exactly what that owl-thing is, which helps us empathize with the poor freaked-out victim helpless in the snow...
