Early this week, WotC announced on Twitter that today there would be some kind of announcement on their Twitch channel. Those who heard that announcement and tuned in were treated to an announcement that the new storyline will be announced at a live event in June.

The press release announcing the impending announcement also mentions a new setting, as well as the storyline, so it sounds like it might not be set in the Forgotten Realms (or maybe is in a new region - to 5E - of the Realms, such as Icewind Dale). The adventure and the setting might be the same thing, or they might be completely different things. Recently, WotC has released a bunch of settings: Eberron, Ravnica, Wildemount, and the upcoming Theros.

Fans of D&D will learn all about the new setting and storyline

The new storyline specifically will be revealed at 12pm PST (8pm GMT) on Thursday, June 18th.

The June event will raise money for Comic Relief, and will feature celebrities including Brandon Routh (Superman), and will preview the brand new storyline. It takes place June 18th-20th. Other names involved include Felicia Day, Deborah Ann Woll, Amy Acker, David Harbour, Matthew Lillard, and more.

Whatever it is (if anything) I doubt it's related to the big adventure. More likely another Rick & Morty-type crossover, though I refuse to say the obvious aloud.
There was already a leaked MLP product cross over from a pre-covid19 toy fair I believe. It was some pony figures themed to D&D classes if I remember correctly. It was posted on these forums somehwere.

I really don't understand this "hostility" "hate" whatever posts..........do people really think the developers are being hostile to you? It's been a VERY LONG time since there was DS content, even longer on Spelljammer. They may have just decided that is the product they want to put out (maybe not now, maybe not ever)....but I doubt it is open hostility to what has come before.....

I personally was making a joke, as the Devs have joked about certain books not being Spelljammer many times, and I don't know what the negativity about Dark Sun from the Devs is referencing.

I've got to give it to WotC: they play it pretty close to the sleeve. The good thing is that surprises are always in store. While some possibilities may be more likely (e.g. an FR story arc) than others (Manual of the Planes, Dark Sun, etc), at this point nothing would surprise me. But in order of likelihood I'd say:

One book slight more more likely than two books, which is way more likely than three books

most likely...

FR story arc
Compilation adventure book

gap to maybe, but probably not (yet)...

Xanathar 2
Manual of the Planes
A new setting

gap to "wow, that's surprising..."

Dark Sun
Psionics

gap to "holy aasimon grap, that came out of nowhere..."

Dragonlance
Greyhawk

gap to head explodes, as reality is completely questioned...

There was, I didn't want to invoke it however as it could very well bring this topic to a big MLP discussion, which I didn't really want to have...
