WOTC Black Dragon (was "OK, I'm kinda excited")

First Post
After MONTHS of searching the 'net, I finally found a -now discontinued- WOTC Black Dragon (WOC 40055) box mini for sale! They only had 2 left and another guy got one of them, but the second one shipped to me today!

I have been lusting after this mini ever since I TPK-d a party with Nightscale! :D I can hardly wait to get my hands on it and paint it!

For those of you unfamiliar with this figure, here's a link to a picture on coolminiornot.

It may seem silly to post this, but none of my regular gaming group are into painting, so I wanted to tell some folks who might actually understand why finding this fig is so cool to me. :D

The WOTC Black Dragon is a very nice sculpt. But I'd never try my hand at it, because I had such a wonderful track record with my GW Balrog, another big mini. Every color scheme I tried came out like crud. Thereafter I decided I should stick with the smaller Reapers, etc....

But grats on finding it. Post a pic or two when you get it painted!

So I got the model and this thing is HUGE!
I think what I might try to do is take some pix as I go along and post my progress here. I have a feeling that his mini may take a little while to get just right.

Glueing it was the tough part ....I would use a very strong epoxy and take my time if I had to do it again.

Soldering came to mind as well....wouldn't want to drop that huge thing by mistake.
Congratz at finding that thing Kengar.....

Yeah, I'm probably gonna double-pin those wings. They are pretty heavy all by themselves.

OK, so here's a pic of the thing unassembled. I still need to file and trim off some flashing, though. For scale reference, the box pictured is approx. 4.25" inches wide and 8" long. Assembled size (as listed on box) is H: 4 11/16" x W: 8 3/8" x D: 5 1/2"

Those four bits at the top are the head: 2 horns, lower jaw & skull :) (not sure how clear that is from pic.)
