WoTC books are CHEAP!

I would just like to remind people who complain about new books coming out so people can stay in business and others who say they have money constraints like I do that....

WoTC books are CHEAP!

How?

Simple: If you go to the movies you spend at least 8 dollars per person 40 bucks for a 4 person 1 DM group to go to.

That gives you maybe 2 hours of excitement and then is wasted.

Go to 3 movies (approximately 6 hours of fun) and you've paid for all 3 books for one group (I know they'd need more PHB's but still).

The difference is each one of your books gives you HOURS and HOURS of fun. Heck a 6 hour gaming session is common to a lot of groups. Think if they play once a week they've paid for a PHB/MM/DMG plus 4 more PHB's in 2 sessions! 2!

I just like to say that I appreciate that this game is so cheap relatively and that however I sometimes dislike payin gmore money, that i'd rather keep WoTC around and pay them a lot less than I pay for most fun then to lose them to their "lack of business".

Hmm.. yeah. On the other hand, if I buy a DVD, I don't have to go out and buy another copy of it three years later because my copy became "outdated."

It was my VHS collection that I had to do that to. :)

i'm still buying the books, though.

Except for the movie all you have to do is sit down and enjoy it. And to game people actually have to put in time to make it good. And while one person rarely ruins a night at the movies, it's easy for one person to ruin a night of gaming.

I'm not saying that the books are not cheap, I've always found the books resonible priced. I just would like people to compair them to something that, well, compairible. We got too much of this apples and oranges stuff.

Sorry. I don't buy the "relative value" arguement. Otherwise, basketballs should cost a hell of a lot, and food should be dirt cheap.

"Ouch! That's awful! That's so... horrible... How can he do that?"
"I'm sure that's him the murderer. Look at his grin when the PI says he hasn't found any clue right now..."
"What? They chose her to play the Queen of Elves? But she's ugly! Look at her nose!"
"What a stupid plot. I'm sure they'll find a scrap of letter in that chimney now, it's the only cliché that we havn't seen yet."
"Hey! Look at the FX! It looks like a movie of the 30's!"
"I never saw a giant snake looking so obviously fake. Go, snake, go! Bite them with your cardboard fangs!"
"That scene is about the reverse of what it was in the book."
"Ugh... I don't want to see that!"
"Who's that actress? She's a bomb! Do you know her name? I want to search picture of her on Kazaa..."
"Now, who was right? I told you he was the murderer!"
"Huhuhu... Punch-cards... Huhuhu... When is that supposed to happen again?"

You ask them to be quiet once, they don't you get the manager to kick them out. Then since the moivie was disrupted you request free movie tickets for the incovience. It's been nice since the customer service has improved. :D

I rather think that hearing someone say this line would increase my enjoyment of the film. I know that I laughed out loud while reading it. :)

Heh. This topic's been debated to death already. :p Hm. More like debated to death and raised again dozens of times, come to think of it...

Still... Here's a *very* brief summary of what it boils down to in the end:

Yes, compared to more expensive pastimes, they aren't too expensive. (duh)
But compared to other RPG companies' products, things look a lot less rosy. *shrug* They aren't that expensive, mind, but still.

Of course, companies have to make money (that's the point of a business, after all) and larger companies have higher costs to pay than smaller companies (more people required in management and other positions, etc.).

Although I think WotC are being greedy and mercenary to release this quasi-revision psuedo-new-edition so early in the product cycle, you simply cannot help but notice that they are putting out some physically GORGEOUS, nearly decadent hardbacks.

Think about it: If ten years ago they'd told you that you could have these impressive books for $20.00 or so each (when discounted by Amazon or the like, of course), you'd have thought them crazy.

What DVDs do you collect? Do you know how many times Terminator, X-Men and basically every other DVD has been released with special footage? "We cut this scene of the Hulk having bad gas because test audiences didn't like it. Bad Hulk, no more beans for you!"
