WotC Closed Down !

Hey Selganor ! I DID post that here, it's way up top, my 7th post I think...

I don't want to give the name of my local retailer away as he doesn't read any boards to my knowledge and I don't want him swamped by emails he's not expecting.

I've been thinking a bit more calmly.... I realise know this must just relate to the UK division. I know it to be a fact that the UK is still waiting for copies of the Epic handbook. Normally we get stuff the week after the US does but my local store and one of our national distributors hasn't got any yet. My retailer said the WotC warehouse in the UK had been closed and that product was being shipped in in different ways. The big distributor in the UK, Esdevium Games, were trying to take on the role of the WotC warehouse but were having difficulties.... It's also a fact that Hasbro closed down the UK arm of the RPGA, getting rid of the staff that ran it. This gives further credence to the retailers comments on a Euro GenCon..

It's just that when your shop tells you WotC is gone in all but brand name and Hasbro considers Magic: The Gathering to be more important than D&D you tend to freak.... well I did..

On the Raven discussion board someone else has posted hearing the same rumour from their local shop.

Hi

My onofficial two cents worth:

My source was at the same meeting, and his sources have indicated that Hasbro are in the process of selling Wizards (D20 and D&D) onto a third party, after they have culled and kept Magic. Which is all they wanted in the first place I understand.

God nows if this is true. Just thought I should let you all know.

Sorry... didn't see it (must be the less than four hours sleep I got tonight...)

I posted message called "Hasbro closes WotC..." with the text starting ...NOT! in my favorite web hangout...

Yes, I did know that some people might be shocked by the message, but it's better to debunk a rumor before it spreads than to wait for it to sink (like the chain letters for some leukemia-kid, which originally WERE real, but a few days after the first mails were sent a donor was found... but the story lives on for YEARS in the net...)

You can't imagine the outcries of one such person who only read the topic... He wasn't really happy about that... :D

At the same board was quite some tumult when some rumor spread that WotC didn't reprint their books when the print run was sold...
What really was the case was that Wizards proclaimed that they wouldn't AUTOMATICALLY reprint books that were sold out... Only if there was demand...

But that's the problem of today's short attention spans... If it doesn't hit you like a hammer you'll probably miss it...

While were still (Sorta) on the Subject of Hasbro messing around with WOTC, maybe someone can confirm or Deny a rumour i heard..
(And i stress this is just a rumour passed on to me by my own local Independant Games trader.. )

I had asked him when he expected to get copys of "The Silver Marches" and the "EpicLevel handbook" in, and his reply was "I have no idea.."

It would appear he was informed that Hasbro is leaning on WOTC to make more money, and as such, they were concentrating on USA Sales, and not on European ones. Apparently he was informed that Europe would get supplied with "New Books" only when they had Surplus after selling to the US Market.

Anyone know if this is true.. or was his Supplier just B*******ing him??
