WotC/GenCon Virus E-mails (was "GenCon SPAM")

Anyone else get SPAM from GenCon?

I have a friend without a credit card. So I created an email account and registered him for GenCon. The only place I have ever used that email is to register for GenCon 2003.

And today, I get a piece of SPAM allegedly from sales@fastforwardgames.com

I couldn't find that domain name on a search, but a search of the IP address on the email shows it belongs to Gencon INC.

Here are the headers (I have blanked out the email address, but changed nothing else):

Yeah that's the first thing I thought: some sort of spoofing virus. Anyone mind if I alter the thread title to make it more of a warning?

If anyone believes they have received a virus infested piece of spam from Wizards of the Coast, please forward it to me so we can figure out who's sending it and get their machine looked at. Just shoot me an email at custserv@wizards.com. Please put "Attn: Darrin - spam problem" in the heading.

Thanks!

It always pays to be careful with e-mail. My advice is to run anti-virus software before opening ANY attachment.

Eric, I remember hearing a story on the radio warning that there may be a contest among hackers to attack web sites this weekend. It might be wise to make sure EN World will be safe from people who hackers.
